90-year-old Arnold Abbott, a veteran of World War 2 and founder of Love Thy Neighbor, has been feeding homeless people for 23 years through his organization.
This past weekend he was arrested along with two Pastors when trying to feed homeless people in a Fort Lauderdale, FL park. He faces 60 days in jail and a $500 fine.
“One of the police officers said, ‘Drop that plate right now,’ as if I were carrying a weapon,” stated Abbott.

My grandfather, Patrick Riley had food lines for the hungry during the depression…bread and hot potatoes…I like to volunteer to serve the hungry…so much gratitude and appreciation.
Govt overreaching power into our lives again.
What a nice old guy. Shame on our lawmakers..and even sometimes the lowly enforcers suck too.
Guessing the city didn’t want public displays of all those poor people being fed in public. It would not be good publicity for the city to show poor people that needed to be fed! Only reason that makes sense.
that is total c**p
I get that the city does not want to attract the homeless population. It is expensive both in health costs and the social welfare of the cities as well as for the homeless. So the obvious answer, at least to the managers of the coffers, is to make the city unattractive to the homeless. However; we are a nation who have thrived on people helping people. We for the most part have been taught that it is better to give than to receive-Christian values. God in his infinite wisdom and grace can and will multiply the gifts and blessings to those who give. Is this town willing to give up the blessings which God gives? Have the individuals in power forgotten from which they came? ” But, by the grace of God go I.” What this city wants to preserve may not be worth the cost of losing God’s blessings. Think carefully, my dear fellow Americans. If you build an invisible wall around your city to keep out the homeless, do not forget that even the impenetrable wall around Jericho came down by God’s hand. Christ spoke about always having the poor among us. Giving to the poor is a blessing and an opportunity to be thankful you have something to give. This principle can help us as humans to become better and more loving people. We cannot live our lives without trials, struggles and tests. This situation is an opportunity and a blessing in disguise. This law will be revoked either by the people or by God. I would offer that it would be much better for everyone if the revocation came from the people due to a change of heart than if the hand of God sends a disaster. I urge you to do what is right forgetting the monetary cost. To the police, I ask why you value your job more than your sense of what is right and wrong. How could you follow the order to arrest a person who is helping someone else. Shame on you. This attitude is why the American public is becoming extremely wary of all Officers of the law.
haw many dope dealers are down there why pick on a WW2 vet who is just doing GODs work
Isn’t it great that we have such humble police officers and city governments? The only dropping action required is for this city government to drop everything and get out of office right now. GD
why stop
Michelle Obama didn’t check to see that it would meet with her standards of a Starvation Only Menu??? WTF!!!???
