Jean Mamakos, a 68-year-old woman from Long Island, is suing United Airlines for $5 million after she spent 3 days in jail following an arrest for attempting to change seats on her flight.
The charge for changing seats on on a plane? Get this: Trespassing
The story is baffling on several levels and garnered enough attention that it was featured on Inside Edition (watch the brief clip next).
If the seat is not occupied and the same price what difference does it make.
dumb
Dumb…when we have hardened criminals doing real crimes out tax dollars are going to dumb stuff
How dumb. She didn’t do anything wrong! Hope she wins!
Wth
more likely, she moved seats (from coach to first class?), refused to move back when the flight crew directed her to do so,and escalated the conflict to obstructing a flight crew.
Crazy!
Get real, people. You know there has to be more to this story..!!!
I wish her luck in her suit. I advise anyone who has to fly to take Southwest Airlines. Some of the best pilots I’ve seen, and some of the wittiest flight attendants.
I stopped flying United years ago, they are not family friendly. What happened to the customer being right? Now they are being arrested! At United you can’t do what everyone else does on other carriers, like changing seats. Give me a break!
