Jean Mamakos, a 68-year-old woman from Long Island, is suing United Airlines for $5 million after she spent 3 days in jail following an arrest for attempting to change seats on her flight.
The charge for changing seats on on a plane? Get this: Trespassing
The story is baffling on several levels and garnered enough attention that it was featured on Inside Edition (watch the brief clip next).
When are these code enforcers going to be taught the Constitution? The whole idea of Government is to protect the people’s property and rights? (Fifth Amendment) No person shall be held to answer for a capitol, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury. USC 18 subsection 242, Deprivation of rights under color of law.
United Airlines is full of it. 1. There are no regulations concerning changing seats once the plane is ready to leave the tarmac. 2. Some airlines don’t even have seat assignments so the part about balancing out the aircraft is bogus.
so much bull c**p i give her 5 dollar and put her back in jail
Omg how dare she be allowed to breath! I say we riot!
Geez… United and Delta both need customer service overhaul. I’ve changed seats after the doors close to many times to count… in fact have been asked to occupy a seat in an empty emergency exit row – way they explained it. they need to have at least one person seated in those rows in case the door needs to be opened because attendants can’t be guaranteed to get there quick enough. If I was on that jury, I’d add another 5M to her award!!
She should also file charges of false arrest and imprisonment against the police as well as the court system for not providing her due process. Any city over 100,000 has a judge on call, otherwise they couldn’t issue warrants.
When is all this nonsense going to stop. Cw
I hope you find yourself in her position one day
I hope she gets every freekin dime from that idiot airline!!
Lawlessness abounds!
