Bullies have existed since time immemorial, and they still exist everywhere, from the workplace to the community, and as always, in the schoolyard.
It would be nice if that unpleasant reality of interpersonal relations could be eliminated, but the question is how.
Bullies don’t usually respond to reason or cajoling, but they often do respond to brute force. Many of us remember being tested by the school bully, finally standing up to him and planting a solid punch right on his nose, and suddenly seeing the bully turn into a reasonable, even pleasant human being. This applies to raising kids in general, where the bully child constantly tests the parent and sometimes only responds to brute force rather than cajoling and pleading.
The problem is that liberals and lefty politicians have fallen for the whole “self esteem” movement, so kids are given way too much power and never experience a reprimand more forceful than a “time out.” And to make sure that is so, laws have been passed so that any discipline more forceful that “let’s reason together, Johnny,” or “please go to your quiet spot Susie” is seen as violent child abuse, to be punished by incarceration or having the children removed from the parents care. Now a new city ordinance in Shawano, Wisconsin puts parents in a double bind, and there is a good deal of confusion and disagreement about how fair the ordinance is.

Maybe if kids were taught to fight back there would be less of a problem. Worked for me when I was a kid.
Democrats do not believe in correcting children.
I like this.
Our country has become soft and weak on ourselves. We have become a nation of people who are not held accountable for our own actions. We point blame at the innocent, hard working, upstanding people when it’s the lazy who are at fault. We punish the home owner instead of the criminal. We blame the gun instead of the finger that pulled the trigger. We want to blame the teachers and principals for their child’s issues at school instead of disciplining the kid at home. Sorry for the dump but, I’ve had it with everyone getting a “participation award”. Life is tough. We have parents wanting to blame everyone else but, themselves for Little Timmy’s issues. We need to go back to posting the score at sporting events, paddle the disrespectful child in class.
Oh get over teach ur child to defend himself or make sure he’s not verbally harassing the other student to violence!!?
It makes me smile to pick out gifts for a two year old’s birthday party. It makes me sad to find out her mother is fourteen. I get upset hearing the mother’s mother has her “live-in boyfriend” asleep in the bedroom where they live, her ex-husband is passed out on the couch and the father of the fourteen year old is stopping by for the party of his two year old granddaughter. I get pissed when I find out the two year old, lives with her fourteen year old mother and aunt and her boyfriend, who lives with her mother and boyfriend, who lives with her parents. Confused yet? What kind of life with the two year old have?
I don’t support being bully. No offense Brian but, there are other ways to learn how to fight. Most of them involve having a choice. What I do support is parents taking responsibility for being parents.
B******T, IS THE GOVERNMENT GOING TO SOLVE EVERY PROBLEM, NO THEY WILL MESS IT UP, DUMB ASSES.
Parents need control over kids not the government. Kids learn nothing when Adults feed the courts money. Money trap for government, never have enough of it. Parents need to go back to the old way of correcting kids. Hell we our older generation learned respect.
