Everything bad in the world is because of Christianity, according to Paul Kivel, a lecturer at the 2016 White Privilege Conference, in Philadelphia. He made the preposterous statement that every dysfunction found in society, from sexism to racism, a weak economy and global warming is all because of what he labels as “Christian hegemony”.
Kivel’s book and website define Christian hegemony as “a system of domination is complex, shifting, and operates through the agency of individuals, families, church communities, denominations, parachurch organizations, civil institutions, and through decisions made by members of the ruling class and power elite.”
Kivel ignores the truth found throughout history that women, slaves, children, and gladiators were consistently viewed as property and without value in most cultures. However, Jesus changed the message in first century Rome, putting into place the idea that equality and human rights are from God and come by virtue of being made in the image of God. Without this “evil” biblical principle, Kivel seems to believe that society would be better.

Marilyn Farmer…you are incorrect in your assertion that all christian denominations (you said religions but you meant denominatiins…or rather denominatiins is accurate) come from Catholicism.
Actually it is like this. The Jewish faith was the first religion as such. There were pagans …certainly but as far as a God ordained religion Judaism was first. Many other religions came from Judaism …islam for example is rooted in stolen history from Judaism. Now Christ was the fulfillment of Jewish prophecy. When Christ started His ministry Christianity was essentially born. This was pre Roman Catholicism.
Constantine adopted Christianity for Rome and adapted many pagan holidays to fit Christian and Jewish holidays…to make them.more palatable to the people I imagine. It was at this time Roman Catholicism was born.
The Roman Catholic religion today ,if defined by what the new testament would call a christian example, would not be considered christians. Now we can argue this if you like and I am certain that there are some catholics who are christians. The Bible says there is one mediator between God and man the man Christ Jesus.
No pope, not Mary, not Peter ( by the way when Christ says to Peter upon this rock I will build my church He was referring to Himself..not Peter…you can’t build the church on a man!). It is Christ and Christ alone. So He had to be virgin born and while Mary was a woman blessed among women she was still a sinful woman and just the vessel. I could go on and on here but will suffice it to say that Roman Catholicism today does not function as part of the new testament church. Sorry.
I agree
Wait until he does and has to face his creator. He will have an impossible time explaining.
Islam is what is bad in the world! Women are only good for procreation and housework and are to be physically punished if they displease the man of the house!
