Everything bad in the world is because of Christianity, according to Paul Kivel, a lecturer at the 2016 White Privilege Conference, in Philadelphia. He made the preposterous statement that every dysfunction found in society, from sexism to racism, a weak economy and global warming is all because of what he labels as “Christian hegemony”.
Kivel’s book and website define Christian hegemony as “a system of domination is complex, shifting, and operates through the agency of individuals, families, church communities, denominations, parachurch organizations, civil institutions, and through decisions made by members of the ruling class and power elite.”
Kivel ignores the truth found throughout history that women, slaves, children, and gladiators were consistently viewed as property and without value in most cultures. However, Jesus changed the message in first century Rome, putting into place the idea that equality and human rights are from God and come by virtue of being made in the image of God. Without this “evil” biblical principle, Kivel seems to believe that society would be better.

We are a Christian built nation being destroyed by pagans.
what the hell is white privivelge?
Ok, support your statement with facts. Your a teacher right. Isn’t that the learning process? Or am I just to take your word for it?!
So, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is the problem with the world?! That’s a good one. It’s called mankind not obeying the 10 commandments God put upon this earth that’s wrong with everything. They are commandments, not suggestions. And Man has taken God’s LAWS out of every institution possible. Look where we are now! Things keep getting worse on a daily basis! The lesson here can’t get any easier. Trust in God, Not in man. But, man refuses to follow God and we ALL suffer the consequences.
no people like him are.
wrong again
Jon Evans… there are just as many teacher pedafiles as there are priests. That’s a fact. Now, to your point about Christianity being the root of all that’s bad…
I’ll leave the Muslims out of it. The Armenian Genocide alone killed a couple million. Their actions speak volumes. While Christianity changed and evolved, Islam has not. But, I digress. Let’s talk about the deaths and strife you mention. ATHEISTS are the number one murders that ever lived. Google atheists dictatotors, and then Google their death count. Stain alone killed so many they can only guess at somewhere between. 10 and 30 million. And before you say$#%&!@* anyone who researched him knows he detested the church, and saw religion as an ends to a means to control society. Hands down, atheists and Islam are the number 1 and 2 demographics to cause death and strife. Even today, Muslims murder their daughters, rape children, kill gas ect all in the name of Islam and condoned by Islam. There is no way you can say the same about Christianity, and to do so is disingenuous at best. Religion is not the leading factor in atrocities. In fact, anti religious hatred and practices are. It’s easy enough to Google. There are many sources outlining the death count of atheists dictators. The Crusades were in response to Islamic aggression, forcibly attempting to spread their religion just as they do today, and while they are thrown up as an example constantly… they lasted 200 years and only killed around 2 million people. The Armenian Genocide committed by Muslims in the early 19th century lasted 2 years and killed 2 million… and that’s only ONE example of Islamic murders. I would challenge you to add up atheists dictators and their death count, Islamic leaders and their death count, and compare them to Christianity. Very few deaths relatively were in the name of Christianity. And that’s where you have to draw the distinction. For example, many people lump Tim McVeigh and the Oklahoma bombing in with “Christian atrocities”. Not true. Because he was white and considered himself “christian”… doesn’t quantify that as such. He committed his action because he was at war with the government over political issues… it had nothing to do with Christian issues. Yet, most lump him in there. Even WW2 is blamed on Christianity. But Japan didn’t attack us in the name of Christianity, nor did we fight back in the name of God. Maybe do some research on the totals I mwntioned, and be honest with yourself about the figures. You might be surprised.
Wrong
THIS GUY IS A NUT CASE
Maybe you should move to a non-Christian country you$#%&!@*
