White House Scrubs Record from Embarrassing Press Briefing — Again

The Obama administration found itself in some hot water earlier this month when the State Department claimed that a “glitch” was responsible for the deletion of several minutes from a 2013 press conference with then-spokeswoman Jen Psaki regarding the Iran nuclear deal.  Psaki’s successor, John Kirby admitted later that the information — determined to be damaging to the administration — was deliberately cut from the record.

Just days later, the administration has been caught with their hand in the cookie jar yet again.  This time, it was White House spokesman Josh Earnest under fire.

“No Kevin,” Earnest replied, after he was asked by Fox News reporter Kevin Corke if he could “state categorically that no senior official in this administration has ever lied publicly about any aspect of the Iran nuclear deal.”

After ABC News caught the White House scrubbing the record, White House reporters Kevin Corke, Byron Tau, and James Rosen challenged Earnest on the issue.

But the press secretary has remained defiant after insisting falsely that the moment was inaudible due to crosstalk. When pressed on the issue, he finally admitted that no, he would not restore the transcript to reflect the truth of what happened during the briefing.

After being caught scrubbing records from two separate press conferences — both regarding lying to the American people about the Iran nuclear deal — the Obama administration continues to embarrass itself with claims that they are open and honest with the media and the people they serve.  At least Richard Nixon never pretended to be the “most transparent administration” in history.

Watch below to see the exchanges.
