Video Voyeur Stalks Women at Target, Gets Chased out of Store and Arrested

A courageous woman, Candice Spivey, captured a voyeur in a Yulee, Florida Target, chasing him out the door while calling for police.  Using the footage, she has warned the public of this man, Jeffrey Polizzi, on her Facebook page.

Polizzi has a record for indecent and inappropriate conduct toward women in various retail stores in the surrounding area.  Spivey recognized him from an earlier encounter and confronted him on camera.

“He said, ‘Get away from me,’ or ‘Stop, leave me alone’ or something,” Spivey said. “And that’s when I just wanted to say, ‘No, you need to leave everyone else alone!”

Spivey is no stranger to Polizzi. She said they had met two years ago at a Publix. She said that time he had two young boys with him.

“At first he is very believable,” Spivey said. “At first he comes up and seems like he genuinely needs your help in regards of answering questions about a dress he bought for his wife.”

But she said the conversation quickly gets awkward when he starts asking indecent questions about undergarments. She said he also asked her about her body, which is why when he approached her at Target she knew who he was before he even opened his mouth.

“He realized he had messed up, and that’s when he turned around and took off running,” Spivey said. “I chased him, because I wanted to get information on who he was. I wanted the public to be aware of him. I wanted his tag number or a name, just some kind of something on him so people could be aware of this guy that’s out here.”

Though Polizzi’s behavior in Target is not illegal, previous behavior has been, as he was arrested in 2009 for voyeurism.

Polizzi was caught hiding a camera in his shoe, putting it under dressing room doors and recording women changing.

The assistant chief of police in Neptune Beach said (sic) they found three videos of females at the Aqua East surf shop recorded March 9, 2009. There were videos of other victims shot in other beaches areas, where he was filming up women’s skirts. The article said he was arrested after he ran from police.

The police are encouraging women who have encountered this man to come forward.  Polizzi was arrested and charged with reckless driving as he fled from Target.

This is precisely why the Target policy is irresponsible.  Allowing a man who “feels” female on a whim enter a women’s bathroom and dressing room is creating an atmosphere for abuse.  This man, Polizzi, easily could have entered the now “free for all restroom or dressing room” and filmeed women or children.  No one could have stopped him from entering for it is within his rights as a guest at Target.

According to the police, his harassing behavior is not illegal, but what if he was in a women’s room and asking inappropriate questions?  At what point would Target have to take action against the man they have now given free access to the lady’s bathroom?  Who from Target is protecting the women shoppers against pervs like this?  It certainly was not a Target manager who chased Polizzi, but a citizen who was not going to put up with his disgusting behavior.

Truth and Action wrote that customers and potential customers almost immediately spoke out against Target’s decision to ignore the biological difference between men and women.

“Why would you choose to allow men in the women’s restroom when every single store has a single family restroom that can easily accommodate your Transgender customers,” Sandy Bell Small wrote on Facebook. “Way to go Target for choosing to protect the .03% of the ADULT transgender population over your women, children, mothers, grandchildren, teenager population. I’m sure you will say you I longer miss us but I’m sure the $$$’s spent weekly will be felt somewhere.”

A recent study of the 2010 census showed that only 89,667 adults had changed their names from one sex to another. That’s roughly 1 in 2,500 adults. Advocates of greater status for people who live like people of the opposite sex, however, say one in every 400 American adults are transgender.

Some commenters told Target they would never shop at the retailer again. Others said they feared for the safety of their loved ones. Liz Ammons, for instance, reminded Target that its policy is not made without dangerous consequences by posting the story of a pervert who was arrested after harassing girls in a Walmart bathroom.
