The Veteran’s Affairs scandal sure has been forgotten fast hasn’t it?
Vet Douglas Chase died of brain cancer in 2012…and he just received a letter granting him with a doctors appointment through the VA.
The Department of Veteran Affairs is apologizing for finally responding to a hospital appointment request letter, two years too late.
Suzanne Chase of Acton, Massachusetts, has been working to put the pain of losing her husband, Douglas Chase, to brain cancer, almost two years ago.
In 2012, a year after her husband’s diagnosis, Chase attempted to move his care in Boston to a nearby veteran’s hospital in Bedford. She said they waited for four months with no reply but Doug died in August 2012.
Just two weeks ago, Chase received a letter from the VA finally responding to her appointment request.
“The letter invited him to make an appointment with primary care at the VA, if he so desired. Then at the bottom they said they wanted a quick response,” Chase told ABC’s Boston affiliate WCVB.
The VA letter concluded, “We are committed to providing primary care in a timely manner and would greatly appreciate a prompt response.”
“I was absolutely stunned, to say the least. Really? Seriously? They are sending me a letter now? I don’t have words to describe it,” said Chase.
As if adding salt to the wound, her Vietnam veteran husband was denied veterans funeral benefits because he was never actually treated at a veterans’ hospital.
“I feel like our vets should be our number one priority. I am concerned that a healthy veteran with a medical condition will have to wait until it becomes a catastrophic condition. This isn’t fair for people who serve our country,” said Chase.
“We regret any distress our actions have caused to the Veteran’s widow and family. At the Department of Veterans Affairs our most important mission is to provide the high quality health care and benefits Veterans have earned and deserve – where and when they need it,” a VA spokesperson told ABC News.
Least we forget, Obama just made another statement to the press, “do they want politics or solutions?” This fellow is only one of many veterans who have died or grown more ill under Obama’s watch. He promised (2008) that he knew what was wrong with the VA and promised he would fix it. He picked his own administrator. He’s had 5 1/2 years to do it and . . . How many campaign fundraisers has he attended? 393 AND he still has to complete his second term. Bush attended 216 in two full terms. Hmm. Who is more interested in politics than solutions? http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2014/07/13/woodward_democrats_tell_me_obama_is_disengaged_from_so_many_issues.html Please write the White House ask Obama to focus more on the solutions. http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/submit-questions-and-comments Thanks.
that is how they should make politicians get their doctors appointments two years later than what they actually get… that includes obama and his family members…..
Very sad, Vets deserve better!
DID THEY SEND THE VA A DEATH CERTIFICATE , AND IF NOT HOW WERE THEY SUPPOSE TO KNOW HE WAS DEAD
That’s obamacare for you
how very tipical, hope his family sues the hell out of the va for mali pratice
can,t fix it till Obama is gone
This occurs in hospitals, not just veteran hospitals across America especially when government healthcare is involved. If your not rich, your screwed! It’s not about people anymore it’s about money. Expect worse now that government is in that insurance provides everyones healthcare now! Naturally it is intent of government to get our vets on that same hc plan everyone is on and eventually they will be fazed in. You ain’t seen Bad, yet!
major lawsuit, the family shouldn’t even need to hire an attorney, they submit claim and 5 million dollars should go to them immediately
What is happening to the United States of America is a test. A test of our courage of conviction. Deep within each of us we must make a conscious effort to decide to fight or remain still. We must value our traditions or completely dismiss them and form a new world order. God is watching us in our most darkest hour as we face evil from within and outside our border. Do we stay silent when judgement comes or do we charge to glory with the permission of our holy father? The breath inside of us is sensing danger, yet we still sit waiting for the right call, when the call has been made and we mute the message. Our livelihood depends on our conviction and our willingness to sacrifice for the greater good. The good as most remember of Sunday picnics after church with our family and friends, basking in the peace and solace of each other’s care. The good as some remember of the victory of our heroes enabling us to use their sacrifice as a compass for our right to freedom and liberty. The good few remember of the liberation of an oppressed world in war. The good none remember of an established republic the likes this world has never seen. Do we remember for our survival or do we forget for our sanity, neither will stop the repeated attempts of the evil of this world. It is with great sacrifice and vigilance we must never forget, yet we revise our lessons and tribulations for a softer and more accepted past. Our souls yearn for a glimpse at the courage many have gave to enable our vanities of today, but who among us wouldn’t give a moment of greatness for a lifetime of mediocrity. I challenge your spirit, your patriotism in the battle of good and evil, will you fight today for a more free tomorrow or will you resign your indignation to your vanity. The vanity of a people who put self above country or self above democracy. The battle is coming whether you are willing for it or not, waiting for us to delve within our souls to touch the hand of God who has blessed this country so. Fear not my brethren we will fight a good fight and when our children’s children remember the good, they will remember with verosity and abundance the gifts we were so willing to bestow upon them through our sacrifice and courage.
