The Utah Senate asked Congress to repeal the 17th Amendment, which was ratified under the Progressive’s of 1913. Utah has boldly challenged a system that was never the intent of the Founding Fathers and suggests that the 17th Amendment has resulted in Senators being bound to special interest groups, that donate enormous sums of money for the Senator’s re-election, and not representing the needs of the people of Utah.
The bill’s sponsor, Sen. Al Jackson of Utah, believes that Senators need to “come home every weekend and take direction from their state legislative (sic) body and from the House and the Governor on how they should vote in the upcoming week.”
Passing with 20-6 SJR2 was sent to the House. It demands that Congress repeal the 17th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

Leave it to a dumb Muslim to want to pull this c**p.
It’s a fair system… it not, only democrat would be the only one being elected.
What he is saying is the politicians need to pay attention to what the people want both Dems and Repubs. What’s wrong with that?
If it was put in there for a reason it should stay as is period .
Don’t have anything to do with the election and by the way I’m not a Dem and didn’t vote Swillary anyway
The reason we have all the stupid laws that we have in because the senate is working for the federal government in stead of the state if they have to go back to being accountable to the state like they were meant to and went rogue they would be fired and replaced ASAP and could not be bought by the lobbyists and would not be making laws that only affect we the people and not them and could not go to Washington poor and leave multimillionaires there’s a reason why they were not voted on. Voting on senators is a large part of the problem as they have no accountability for 6 years and then they lie their way right back in.
Youre an idiot lewis. Taking away the peoples right to choose is not how you take power away from the government thats how you give power to the government and it only makes it easier for special interest groups to get more involved in government when the people have no choice. If the state was left to choose the reps and not rhe people the state would just choose which ever interest group paid the most and back that candidate. If the people are choosing then it doesn’t matter what money goes where its ultimately the peoples choice repealing the 17th amendment is the dumbest fucking thing any freedom loving person could ever do. You sir proved you are an idiot.
In these days of dire need for leadership and unity you come up with repealing an amendment? Don’t we have far bigger problems! I reread the 17th amendment, while I somewhat agree with Senators going home, but weekly is too much since I’m sure you’d want the taxpayers to foot the bill. Please fix what’s at hand before you tackle Amendment 17!
DID ANY OF YOU READ IT???
AGREE!!
