The Utah Senate asked Congress to repeal the 17th Amendment, which was ratified under the Progressive’s of 1913. Utah has boldly challenged a system that was never the intent of the Founding Fathers and suggests that the 17th Amendment has resulted in Senators being bound to special interest groups, that donate enormous sums of money for the Senator’s re-election, and not representing the needs of the people of Utah.
The bill’s sponsor, Sen. Al Jackson of Utah, believes that Senators need to “come home every weekend and take direction from their state legislative (sic) body and from the House and the Governor on how they should vote in the upcoming week.”
Passing with 20-6 SJR2 was sent to the House. It demands that Congress repeal the 17th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

In a nutshell, this horse’s$#%&!@*want to repeal the right of the citizens to vote for and elect their Congressmen and Senators. Instead, he wants a committee of existing legislators to APPOINT those positions.
Gee, what could possibly go wrong with *that* scenario?
Of course the founding fathers did…… THAT is why there are amendments…. will it pass?? NEVER.
The House was and is The Peoples House! The Senate from the binning was The States House until the 17th Amendment (ratified April 8,1913)! At which point the states lost their voice in the Federal government and by doing so the feds gained powers over the states that was never meant to be! For those who want freedom from a central power run government you need to get behind this repeal of the 17th amendment! Put The Senate back in the hands of your State!
The 17th amendment was not part of our constitution until April 8,1913! So lets return it to what Our Founders meant it to be. Can we agree?
