The Utah Senate asked Congress to repeal the 17th Amendment, which was ratified under the Progressive’s of 1913. Utah has boldly challenged a system that was never the intent of the Founding Fathers and suggests that the 17th Amendment has resulted in Senators being bound to special interest groups, that donate enormous sums of money for the Senator’s re-election, and not representing the needs of the people of Utah.
The bill’s sponsor, Sen. Al Jackson of Utah, believes that Senators need to “come home every weekend and take direction from their state legislative (sic) body and from the House and the Governor on how they should vote in the upcoming week.”
Passing with 20-6 SJR2 was sent to the House. It demands that Congress repeal the 17th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
Read a history of the 17th Amendment and why Utah has made such a bold call to action on the following page.
That would be a good start.

Yeah as John said good start
Someone educate this pretend senator. Only way to enact or remove an amendment is for the people to vote it in or out. He and his vile band of criminal pals don’t get to make the rules because of some job they hold.
I presume he is calling for a Constitutional Convention: “The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments…” There are good and compelling reasons for repealing the 17th. and putting the power in the Senate back into the hands of the States and their citizens.
Impose term limits on all members of the crooks and lawyers club in DC.
wtf really because the 17th was never radified properly
he is right the 17th amendment should be repealed.
The 17th amendment was enacted by Congress so that they can take bribes. That’s how special interest groups have taken over America. They’re right it should be repealed Congress members should work for We the People not special interest groups
Absolutely no changes to the united states constitution
