On Dec. 31, 2014 Utah began the process to retake 31.2 million acres of its own land previously under the control of the federal government. Utah consists of 54.3 million acres, so Washington was controlling more than 65% the state.
The “Transfer of Public Lands Act”, signed by Utah Gov. Gary Herbert in 2012, is an unprecedented move that directly challenges the authority of the federal government.
Now, since the reclaim has taken place, Utah is gearing up to fight the feds.
MOVE ON TO PAGE 2:
Are they given the land back to the Indians? No coments!!!
Can’t wait to see the strip mining and fracking pumps in the future. So beautiful.
Good move. It belongs to Utah…NOT the government!!
Lol. Utah is a government as well. At the moment that land supposedly belongs to all Americans. So, by this action you are taking it away from everyone else. The question for me is if the state will allow more or less access and usage of the lands that the Feds. If it were up to my I’d stop fighting over who controls the land and work on opening up access to it.
You mean the government of Utah as opposed to the Federal government, correct? Either way it is under government control…
The picture is monument valley which is on the Navaho reservation so that isn’t even Utah’s land it belong to the Navaho Nation.
The leaders of Utah need to quit screwing around and get this done. They need to take back the lands that constitutionally belong to the states…which means ALL of the lands. No federal parks, no federal properties, period…unless those properties are in line with the constitution and Article 1, Section 8, Clause 17…which lays out in plain english HOW the federal government must acquire the lands and exactly WHAT those lands may be used for. And nowhere in the constitution does it give the federal government to just claim and take wide swaths of land from the states.
Keep the pressure on, Utah. Pay no attention to the damned environmentalists and their agenda.
Surely the federal government could not of “controled” any single state’s land. All any state needs to do is revoke it’s membership of the United States by declairing independance from Federal control. Or is that not “allowed” in the land of the FREE.
how about this for an arguement. The Constitution clearly states that the federal government shall only have the authority that is specifically granted to it. No where does it give the feds the authority to own land other than the 10 square miles of d.c.
