There exists among those on the left the belief that there remains, in each of us, a racist ready to burst forth to demean others. One way to contain these beasts until a proper education can improve humankind’s natural state is to deal with language. In this case, academia is going far beyond the racial slurs that we should all abhor. This talk revolves around language itself and the culture of racism these people believe permeates our entire society.
Does this now mean that the rules of grammar need to be made more flexible as part of this effort to root this alleged racism out of our language?
More on page two:
Another ifiot who believes tradition is outdated !
MORE STUPID BS.
Are we going to become a backward society? ?
Oh cripe now what?
Oh, give me a break!
Go and fucketh thyself!
I guess if everyone spoke eubonics it would be ok
Actually you all are flat wrong. There is no IQ discrepency between someone that uses erudite words, versus street language. It’s a product of their upbringing. Using AAVE grammar structure, for instance, is entirely logical and again, bears no effect on IQ, until a PRESCRIPTIVIST attitude forces AAVE speakers to learn foreign grammar. Americans aren’t so good at learning foreign grammar. It also naturally creates an environment that naturally favors higher class individuals.
It’s not racist. Really stupid optics. But he’s right. Standardization is an abomination on our education system. An AAVE child is perfectly correct speaking the grammar that he or she grew up with. This translates into prose. It is detrimental developmentally; however, to force that child to ‘stop speaking Black’ and write in a prescribed setting, I.e., standardized grammar. Grammar ought to be rigid enough to be generally legible, but it needs to be flexible so that we don’t stamp out creativity in any child.
