The Energizer Bunny has nothing on the University of California, Irvine’s nanobattery, an accidental discovery with enormous potential. This wonder battery can join the glorious ranks of accidental discoveries like champagne, viagra and popcycles, each having a positive place in the world today.
Researchers at UCI inadvertently created a long lasting battery with long lasting potential. This nonobattery can at a conservative number keep a laptop going for 400 hundred years. The average laptop battery is good for roughly 1000 charges, but will diminish over two years time. The UCI nanobattery “endured 200,000 charge cycles” for the length of three months and was “effectively still brand new” when they were done experimenting.
Although this battery is years away from having commercial use, the future looks bright, for centuries, with this nanobattery energizing it. The future of USB ports and “charging bricks” looks a bleak as the science progresses on this new battery.
Read the rest of the story on the next page. Fascinating indeed!
if it’s true — energy companies will pay billions for the prototype, all the data and store in it in a vault.
a battery that lasts ” forever ” in your car, camera, iphone, your home, medical equip. — etc.. would put bty. companies out of business…
Now just exactly how do they know it will last forever, guys forever is a looooong time, and if they just invented it then forever is yet to be seen huh. they might need to rethink that saying.
>inb4 Nikola Tesla v.2
You’ll never get your hands on one. There’s to much money in dying batteries.
I bet they end up dead and everything gets lost !
Lol. Sure they did.
Jeremiah – no way!!!! Joe – check it out!!!!!
This will end up in the same place the water car from Louisville Ky did ..right into the hands of the government
Oops! Too late to kill the inventor I guess! LOL
However, I call shenanigans on a “forever battery”.
