The wall on our Southern border that Donald Trump proposed early in his campaign generated as much controversy as any of his proposals. Divorced from the other issues that surround this proposal, one would wonder what the fuss is all about. After all, people are breaking the law by entering the US from Mexico by not following immigration laws. So it would seem the answer would be to act to prevent people from breaking the law.
If putting up a wall or fence helps stop lawlessness, then what’s the big deal? It’s not like there’s any dispute where the border is, and the wall is to be built along that mutually agreed-upon border. So, again, what’s the big deal?
Okay, that was an exercise in looking at the problem of illegal immigration without the baggage of political agendas. Add the inevitable measure of politics to the issue and it becomes a huge deal.
More on page two.
Go President Trump!.
THE ONLY REASON LIBERALS DON’T WANT A WALL IS TO KEEP THE INFLUX OF ILLEGALS COMING IN TO GET VOTES WITHOUT THEM THEY COULD NEVER WIN PEROID
Yippee!
I love you all
Existing funding on the books that’s great.
Go Trimp
Yeah
Let’s rock n roll
Let’s see: 2000 miles at 5,280 ft per mile equals 10,520,000 ft.
Material cost approximately $50 per ft equals $516,000,000 just for materials.
1000 workers could probably put up a mile a day, so 2,000 (miles) times $100,000(average $100 per man per day-cheap! ) equals $200,000,000. That’s $716 billion. And 8 years to build.
Now we have to buy how many acres of land?
What about the roads and other infrastructure needed to get to the construction areas?
How about the equipment needed for a job this large? What are we going to build it out of? And where are these materials coming from?
How do we handle areas where the border is the middle of a river?
Who’s going to design this project? And who’s in charge of all the legal work of obtaining right-of-ways, land, and building permits?
Has anyone thought about environmental impacts?
How long before you could actually build the first foot of fence?
Do you really believe they have the trillions of dollars to start this project?
Please- – JUST THINK ABOUT IT!
