Much of politics is an exercise in diversion and theater while the real agenda plays out just below the surface. The challenge, then, for the person who is trying to figure out what really is going on is to distinguish between what is said and done for appearance, and what the real goals and plans are. This is often a difficult task as those who have made it to the top typically have honed their skills very well.
Donald Trump is a master negotiator, having literally written the book on making deals. As such, he is quite capable of offering a proposal that he knows will not be accepted simply as one step in moving the negotiation process forward. So it is wise never to make judgements on the progress of negotiations just based on what is said or proposed while the matter is in play.
The construction of the border wall is a major component in President Trump’s plan to secure our borders and stop illegal immigration. What makes it even more controversial is that he has claimed that Mexico will pay for it.
Will they?
More on page two.
So they say there is more women than men in this country. So that means more women voted for Trump than hillary. Yes if a tariff is raised against a country we that buy$#%&!@*will pay more. Now with that said if min wage goes to 15hr U WILL PAY MORE FOR$#%&!@* U DAMN MORONS ARE MAD CAUSE A TARIFF IS RAISED MAKING U PAY MORE FOR$#%&!@*SAME WITH MIN WAGE AND THE FED INTREST RATE GOING UP WELCOME TO ECONOMICS 101.

You all realize that if he puts an import tax on Imported products, the companies will just raise the price of the products to cover the cost of the tax. So we will be giving Mexico the additional money to pay the tax that will pay for the wall. So we will be paying for the wall. You all do realize that, right?
David, when their prices go up fewer people will buy. The demand will go down. People will end up buying from other sources. People in US will see the need and start up businesses here in US to fill the void.
Might hear a sucking sound….that’s the American companies leaving Mexico to avoid those taxes….
Like Levis.
GM.
Ford.
🙂
Been in office for one week, and already making America Great Again!
Taxes on imports are not “fixed”, so as they raise prices, taxes also rise…to the point where it’s actually cheaper to make it here…..
You do realize David…We do not have to buy if says made in mexico
Brandy Copeland not sure where you earned your PhD in Economics from. I’m assuming they didn’t take off points for spelling. But congratulations on knowing more about our trade relations with Mexico than every other economist in this country who said that raising import taxes will be a bad thing for this country. (I used little words just for you)
Dave Moore and that leads to the goods being at a price point where no one buys them and they search for alternatives. Did you get your degree at the same university Brandy did?
