This week marked a very interesting meeting of defense ministers from the United States, Japan, South Korea, Russia, China, India, Australia and New Zealand. On the agenda? North Korea, of course.
The meeting that took place in the capital city of the Philippines on Monday was meant to be the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) attempt to smooth over tensions that have arisen in the region because of North Korea’s “bellicose rhetoric.” That statement was actually made by Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov after his latest failed mission to Pyongyang in an attempt to convince Kim Jong Un to calm down with his threats.
Secretary of Defense General James “Mad Dog” Mattis, who was also in attendance at this meeting, had an opportunity to speak before an array of reporters and television cameras, addressing the situation in North Korea from the point of view of regional and global security. Both of his counterparts from Japan, Itsunori Odonera, and South Korea’s newly-appointed secretary of defense Song Young-moo, had an opportunity to speak on this matter as well.
Turn to the next page to read about how this meeting has now prompted President Trump to amend an order announced by George W. Bush directly after 9/11 and how this order will raise the number of pilots in the US Air Force to levels not seen since the Cold War!

Good for the President!!
I remember when George HW Bush ordered the standdown of bombers.
