Donald Trump is bringing out the big guns to make sure that his opponents do not deny him the Republican presidential nomination.
Faced by a capable rival in the form of Texas senator Ted Cruz and a potential spoiler in the form of rumored GOP establishment pawn John Kasich, Trump is faced with the prospect of his impressive lead being eaten away by the two.
In fact, if things continue at the rate they’re going, it’s highly likely that no one will have enough delegates to win the party’s nod, freeing delegates to vote for whoever they (or more likely, party insiders) want. It is precisely this messy outcome that the Donald seeks to avoid.
That’s why he hired none other than Paul Manafort, a veteran of heavily-contested GOP conventions, to serve as his delegate manager. Having worked for Gerald Ford and Ronald Reagan and at the 1988 and 1996 Republican conventions, Manafort brings a good deal of experience that should serve Trump well.
See more on the next page:
The addition of Manafort to the Trump campaign comes not a moment too soon. With no clear winner predicted in the coming Wisconsin primary, the state and it’s delegates are up for grabs, and Trump needs all the help he can get to thwart the establishment’s plans to derail his candidacy:
“Anti-Trump forces inside the GOP have hung all their hopes on a contested convention, and Trump’s Manafort hire could stave off those efforts. A fierce battle lay ahead over the next several days heading into next Tuesday’s Wisconsin GOP primary where different polls show the candidates bunched up competing closely within the margin of error, some with Cruz in front and some with Trump in front. A Trump win in the Badger State would devastate the so-called ‘Never Trump’ group, whereas a Trump loss to Cruz would embolden his critics.
Then two weeks later it is Trump’s home state of New York, where the real estate magnate is expected to dominate. After that, the rest of the eastern seaboard—Rhode Island, Connecticut, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Maryland—votes before the end of April. In May, Indiana, Nebraska, West Virginia, Oregon, and Washington State hold nominating contests before the final votes are cast before the July convention on June 7 in California, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, and South Dakota.
Theoretically, Trump could wrap everything up before or on June 7—but it’s a tough road ahead. There are also hundreds of delegates who are entirely uncommitted walking into the convention whom Trump could get to vote for him—something Manafort is undoubtedly already working on achieving.
‘The move [hiring Manafort] is freighted with political symbolism: After the 1980 election, Mr. Manafort was among the young-gun Reagan operatives who founded one of Washington’s best-known political consulting and lobbying shops,’ Haberman and Burns wrote in the Times. ‘His principal business partners were Roger J. Stone Jr., a longtime Trump confidant who frequently advocates for the campaign on television, and Charles R. Black Jr. Mr. Kasich unveiled Mr. Black as an adviser earlier this month, in an announcement intended to convey his readiness for a contested convention – effectively making Mr. Black and Mr. Manafort, allies dating back to the 1970s, direct competitors in the 2016 race.’”

The GOP won’t touch it. They realize what will happen if they do. They said the same thing about Reagan….
THE TRUMP TITANIC
March 31, 2016
By Dr. Jack WheelerTrumpTitanic
April was the fateful month for the RMS Titanic. April may be the same for the candidacy of Donald Trump.
On May 31, 1911, the Titanic was launched in Ireland’s Belfast Harbor to the cheering and applause of 100,000 spectators. The largest and costliest ship ever built, with facilities of “unrivalled extent and magnificence,” it was hailed as “unsinkable” by its builders, the press, and its admirers.
10½ months later on its maiden voyage across the Atlantic, at 11:40pm (ship’s time, 2 hours ahead of New York time) the night of April 14, 1912, the ship hit an iceberg that sliced open a series of holes in the ship’s starboard side hull below the waterline.
7 tons of seawater a second began flowing into the ship’s bowels. Within 45 minutes, almost 14,000 tons had flooded in, 15 times that could be pumped out by the ship’s bilges.
By this time, amidst ensuing chaos, life boats were being lowered and passengers evacuated, as the Captain of the Titanic, Edward J. Smith, remained paralyzed in a daze on the bridge, not believing what was happening. The last life boat was lowered at 2:05am.
Within a few minutes, the stern began to rise 250 feet high in the night sky, as hundreds of the 1,500 people still stranded on the ship began jumping off. As the front part of the ship completely flooded, the Titanic split in half, disappearing under the surface of the sea at 2:20am, just two hours and forty minutes after striking the iceberg.
On June 16, 2015, Trump launched his presidential candidacy in the gilded and ornate Trump Tower in New York City, declaring, “I’m really rich.” It will be 10 months since then in April. His campaign has hit an iceberg and is taking on water faster than his bilge can pump it out.
On this last day of March (3/31), it is possible to foresee Trump’s quest for the Pub presidential nomination soon breaking apart and sinking below the waves.
And what is the iceberg his campaign has hit? Himself. Trump is his own iceberg. An iceberg that, in the last few days, has punched a series of irreparable holes in his hull.
Last Friday (3/25), Trump responded to Cruz calling him a “sniveling coward” on national television for attacking his wife Heidi by telling his buddy David Pecker to release the laughably absurd National Enquirer Cruz hit piece. Right – the publisher of the world’s most trashy tabloid on earth is named Pecker.
That’s an opportunity for total ridicule that can’t be passed up. Within hours, the hottest trending hashtag on Twitter was #TrumpLovesPecker. Wags had a field day with photoshops such as these:
PeckerAds
ArtofLove
That was quickly followed by #TrumpTributeBands, suggesting “Pink Fraud,” “Earth Wind & Liar,” “Smashing Trumpkins,” “Stray Fat Cats,” and many others. Now there’s #TrumpPaysForWeiner.
The riposte is not, well, there are hashtags making fun of Cruz too – sure there are, but they don’t rattle him, Cruz doesn’t care. Trump does. He’s a pathological narcissist who’s pathologically think-skinned with a compulsion to viciously attack anyone who criticizes or opposes him.
What happens when someone like that becomes an object of mass public ridicule? Think of those videos you’ve seen of a building being imploded, crashing in upon itself in a huge cloud of dust. That’s what may well happen to Trump’s mind. Won’t be pretty.
That’s just for starters. Here’s a selection of news reports in the last few days:
*Britons think watching Trump on British TV is like “the ramblings of a drunk uncle at a barbeque”
*Newt Gingrich: Trump Insults Are “Utterly Stupid”
*Ann Coulter: Trump Is “Mental” – “Like Constantly Bailing Out Your 16-Year Old Son from Prison”
*Trump Refuses to Rule Out Using Nuclear Weapons on Europe
*Trump Refuses to Rule Out War with China
*Trump Claims “I Alone Can Solve” Problem of Radical Islam
*Andrea Mitchell: Trump Is “Completely Uneducated” About the World
*Trump Says 3 Top Purposes of Fed Government Are Provide Defense, Education, and Healthcare
*Trump Campaign Manager Charged with Battery on Female Reporter
*Trump to File Charges Against Female Reporter – Her Pen “Could Have Been a Little Bomb”
*Trump Goes Full Anti-Women – Wants “Punishment” for Women Who Abort
It’s the last one that punches the final hole in Trump’s hull. He’s tried to walk it back, saying he meant doctors not women, but the headlines and news vid clips will be unrelenting. This sets a vast majority of women voters’ contempt for him in cement. It’s going to do him vast damage in upcoming liberal state primaries.
In April, there are GOP primaries in Wisconsin (4/05), New York (4/19), Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island (4/26) – all of which went for Zero in 2012. Women in these states are going to vote against Trump in droves.
More and more people in general are realizing that Trump really doesn’t know Jack Shinola about much of anything. You all are aware of how much I know about the world. I can assure you Andrea Mitchell is right – he is a total moron, “completely uneducated,” about the world.
So here we go. Predictions are risky things – especially when you predict that something will happen when you want it to. I may be wrong about this, no doubt. Nonetheless, I think Trump’s campaign starts to sink for real five days from now. I think Cruz is going to torch him, that he’ll come in third behind Cruz and Kasichaos. 42 delegates are at stake, and Cruz will win most of them.
With that, it’s a whole new ballgame. Two weeks later in New York, Trump will do worse than expected and his momentum will be in reverse. New York and the 5 on the 26th are Closed so Dems can’t cross over for Trump as they want him against Hillary. Only Delaware and Maryland are fully winner-take-all.
By late night on the 26th, it will be apparent that Trump will be off the rails in his quest to reach the magic 1,237 delegate majority for the nomination.
Knowing Trump, he won’t go quietly in the night – he’ll yell and shout and threaten and bully. It will do him no good, as everyone by then will understand that Cruz will win on the second ballot.
One thing Trump can’t do is pull a Ross Perot and run as an Indie. Too late for that. Bob Eno ran the numbers in the link and shows why.
The Trump Titanic won’t sink in hours like the real Titanic. It may take the entire month of April, even all the way to June.
But the Trump Iceberg has already sliced holes in the hull, the ship is taking on water, the lifeboats are being lowered, people are putting on life jackets or are determined to go down with the ship.
And before you know it, the Trump Titanic will be lying at the bottom of the ocean.
