Trial has concluded with a not-guilty verdict for Officer Craig Taylor, the cop that tasered and then shot multiple bean bag rounds fired from a shotgun that killed John Wrana Jr., who was only days away from celebrating his 96th birthday as one of our oldest living World War 2 veterans.
Taylor was charged with felony reckless conduct, although he should have been be tried for murder. When excessive force becomes this blatant we are outside of the bounds of considering that the officer was operating within police authority.

Sad!
Were the cops black?
I get the anger, but they left out parts of the story.
Bottom line-we should not expect any officer to risk serious injury whether it is 20 stitches on a hand, or a puncture wound.
BTW, where was this Veteran’s family? Why was he alone with a weapon…?
Where are the protestors? They don’t have a problem with elderly white men getting killed, just black thugs?
The judge has exonerated the cop. John Kass’ article commenting on this was in the Tribune today.
spoken like someone who sits behind a desk all day.
Bastards!
Shame on cops.
Even a 95 year old Veteran, is dangerous, when armed with a knife. While this is a tragedy, it would not have happened if the Veteren hadn’t attacked. Most likely he had everyone of the officers screaming different orders at him, and was confused by the noise, and perhaps a medication proplem. It is just a sad state of affairs.
