Mason, with the curly blond mop and hazel eyes, was only 16-months-old when he died in a hit and run accident. On August 30th, the Roten family was driving in Walkertown, North Carolina, when a black Chevy Impala crossed the center lane into the path of their truck. Mason’s dad swerved to miss the impending head-on collision. The truck truck flipped and hit a tree, which fell on the their vehicle, crushing little Mason.
An Elkin High School alumni made and installed a bench near the playground at the Elkin Municipal Park. Each week Mason and his brother would play at the playground. Heather, Mason’s mom said, “They had a blast down here… He was just a joyful little boy.” The bench meant so much to the family and was engraved with Bible verses and crosses to memorialize their happy baby.
The bench vanished from the park because of the religious emblems on city property. Follow more of the story on page two.
As much stuff as obama has messed up….how is THIS possibly his fault? These parents put a bench in a park without getting approval for it first. Since they are christian the rules shouldn’t apply to them?
Mr. johnson, thanks for clarification. As I was reading this my first thought was “Did the person have permission/the right to place the bench there?” And then secondly “did they read the rules in place on what may be placed where?” I agree with others that it should not be removed solely because of a bible verse on it, but I suspected otherwise and took time to find out before posting an uninformed rant. A place should be found in your park for this beauiful tribute to a little boy who loved to play there!
The sole purpose of the headline is to make people think it was removed for bible verse…so they will get pissed off (without reading it) and the comment, like, and share to drive ad revenue to the site. I know this for a fact because I know the guy that owns the page, and took his marketing course where he built this page. It really amazes me how many people on here don’t know they are being manipulated.
Don’t even attempt to defend this Anti American Anti Christian President who’s sole intent is to destroy this country.
Carol please explain how these parents trying to put a bench in a park without prior approval (which lead to it’s removal) is obama’s fault.
And how exactly is obama anti-christian. You seem to think any time that christians don’t get to do whatever they want when they want that it is some kind of war on christians.
These sites use inflammatory pics and headlines as they know most will just click like rather than taking time to read/research for the whole truth behind it before making a judgement. I am totally against infringing on my religious rights in order to be politcally corect, making a country where any other religion BUT Christianity has rights….but I try not to fall prey to this use of hysteria-building either.
Kathy I am not sure how you can say that in a country where the majority of religious people are christian that christians have no rights.
This is just WRONG!!! Who will stand up for “The First Amendment”? If the ‘Bench” was not breaking any cemetery rules, then, it is totally WRONG for the family to have to move it! Last time I checked, people still have freedom to CHOOSE their religion.
If you don’t like what the bench says don’t sit on it and don’t look at it!
Lol. Don Johnson u seem like a good man and I’m sure u will do what u can!
