Donald Trump is getting tough on sanctuary cities — but he’s not alone in the fight. He has Attorney General Jeff Sessions by his side, and a smattering of Republican governors as well.
This week, Sessions vowed to speed up the deportation process and threatened steep budget cuts for governments that don’t comply.
The leaders of these so-called “sanctuary cities” were quick to respond. Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti called the threats “unconstitutional.” New York Mayor Bill de Blasio vowed to fight back, saying “we’ll see them in court.”
But not everyone is fighting the Trump administration’s law enforcement efforts. Texas Governor Greg Abbott is doing more than lending his support. He’s willing to sign legislation that will take the president’s threats even further. And he’ll need to, because one country in Texas is still refusing to comply with orders from either administration.

Look she’s a 4 star$#%&!@*!!!
You keep saying this Governor, just do it, set an example for the others.
LOCK HER$#%&!@*UP!
He needs to bring her up on charges. I’m not aware of a sheriff having any unilateral authority to release sentenced prisoners or detainees awaiting trial and being held in lieu of bond other than by order of the court. That makes her a criminal.
All that is correct, Bill Springer, and treasonous strike me as more of a semantical distinction (with which I agree) than a legal one. She is still subject to Texas General Statute and all local ordinances and I’m comfortably certain that neither statute nor ordinance allows her to, unilaterally and absent a court order, release detainees awaiting trial in lieu of a posted bond or prisoners serving sentences from her facility. She needs to be administratively removed from office, charged, arrested and brought to trial.
Get er done governor Abbott.
Lock her$#%&!@*up.
I hope he follows thru!
Dick .. you know me I like action .. Tell me when she is in jail .. Action .. That’s why I like Trump ….
Why threaten, grow a few and “DO IT!”
