No more Bible study! Beaumont, Texas’ men and women in blue have been told they can no longer hold a voluntary Bible study during lunch at the police station. After meeting like this for years, with no complaints, the City of Beaumont has demanded that the officers stop.
A pre-suit letter, which is required by the Texas Religious Freedom Restoration Act, is being sent to the city stating that the officers’ religious rights have been infringed upon.
Sargent Burt Moore, who helped found the Faith and Fellowship Bible study, pointed out that the City Council prays before its meetings and the police station will start an event with prayer as well.
He also said that there is a chaplain program which still meets at the station. The study he says has a diverse group of faiths and ethnicities coming together for the study and believes the City is “unfairly targeting us.”

I cannot believe this………
Time for the police to get together a large class action lawsuit..
As representatives of the department it is a violation of the separation of church and state, So as private citizens, they can do as they please… So they can do it :out of uniform: and at that point any orders would be a violation of civil rights
SHAME, SHAME on the City of Beaumont Texas! I use to think Beaumont, Texas was a great city to live in, but NOT anymore!!!
Remember the Movie Footloose? they banned dancing for religious reasons… That was in Beaumont Texas…
Texas can’t not do that who ever said that should be fired and the police chief should of said to all officers to stand down and not follow order
Just say know and do it anyway…
They or someone on their behalf should contact the ACLJ the city can not stop them from having a Bible study on their own lesson violation of their constitutional rights and they should stand firm and push back
Not true that decision was reversed!
