No more Bible study! Beaumont, Texas’ men and women in blue have been told they can no longer hold a voluntary Bible study during lunch at the police station. After meeting like this for years, with no complaints, the City of Beaumont has demanded that the officers stop.
A pre-suit letter, which is required by the Texas Religious Freedom Restoration Act, is being sent to the city stating that the officers’ religious rights have been infringed upon.
Sargent Burt Moore, who helped found the Faith and Fellowship Bible study, pointed out that the City Council prays before its meetings and the police station will start an event with prayer as well.
He also said that there is a chaplain program which still meets at the station. The study he says has a diverse group of faiths and ethnicities coming together for the study and believes the City is “unfairly targeting us.”

Yeah, at first glance it looks that way, but the argument will be that Muslims are required by their faith to pray…..Christians are not required to have a Bible study. I don’t see what business it is of the City what a person does on their lunchbreak, but that is what the Muslims will argue if they were ever told to stop.
Well they should all turn their badges in, all at the same time!
Texas city cannot order cops to stop bible study, it is none of the cities business, cops should tell the city to go pound sand.
Own time? Bug off City!
this is just wrong.
I hope they told “them” where to go!
Wow spoken like a true Ovomitbot
These men can go out and risk their lives every day for us and they can’t exercise their right to meet as Christians?. Our government was established so that the government will not establish a state religion (Islam , for instance) and to protect our right to practice our religion without the interference of the state, They’re failing at obeying the Constitution.
Abbot says what.
How insane is our country coming…. This is probably a nice peaceful little town with the bible study. Probably very little drug miseries and hate crimes, etc…. Keep the bible study.
