“Thou shalt not murder” is different than, “Thou shalt not kill. And defending yourself and defending your nation is an obligation of any President. It is not murder.”
Ted Cruz spoke these sentiments in an interview with News Max’s, “The Hard Line” host Ed Berliner. He articulated, that as a man of faith, he understands the Biblical mandate to face evil and defend innocents. Answering Ed Berliner’s pointed question regarding faith and carpet bombing ISIS he made the correlation between killing the Nazi’s and killing ISIS.
Cruz argued that defending the innocent is an obligation and jihadist have declared war on us, therefore a stategy to protect and defeat evil is necessary.
He stated that Obama and Hillary have both failed to confront this evil as they have been unwilling to acknowledge that “the jihadists have declared war on us”.

Aspen Davis – “Kill” in English is an all-encompassing verb that covers the taking of life in all forms and for all classes of victims. That kind of generalization is expressed in the original Hebrew Bible by the word “harag.” If that had been the word the Bible used then the police and military could not do all it takes to protect us. If you killed in self-defense you could be condemned to death, oops that does not work either! But the Bible tells us that the punishment for murder IS death! See, ‘But if he struck him down … so that he died, he is a murderer; the murderer shall surely be put to death (Numbers 35:16). However, the word that appears in the Bible’s prohibition is a completely different one, “ratsah” which, means “murder” or an “unjustified killing (criminal killing).”
How did the King James version get this so wrong. The commentary is that at the time the KJV was translated murder and mayhem were rampant, so perhaps St. Jerome wanted to step it up to deter at least some of it. It is too bad that he (or they) did not forsee the confusion the word switch would create.
1 Timothy 1:8-10 KJV
But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully; [9] Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, [10] For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;
If we had a Presedent that cared and took worked for his country, ISIS would have been defeated by now.
