A Taliban spokesman told the U.K.’s Sky News on Monday that the United States and its ally Britain will face “consequences” if they keep troops in the country past the August 31st deadline, even though it’s simply to facilitate the evacuation of their citizens.
The comment was spurred by Biden’s comment during a press conference that an extension might be necessary.
“There’s discussions going on among us and the military about extending,” Biden said. “Our hope is we will not have to extend.”
Taliban spokesperson Dr Suhail Shaheen said: “It’s a red line. President Biden announced that on 31 August they would withdraw all their military forces. So if they extend it that means they are extending occupation while there is no need for that.”
He added: “If the US or UK were to seek additional time to continue evacuations – the answer is no. Or there would be consequences.
“It will create mistrust between us. If they are intent on continuing the occupation it will provoke a reaction.”
It comes as Boris Johnson is set to personally plead with Joe Biden to extend a deadline for US troops leaving Afghanistan to allow more people to flee the reign of terror of the Taliban.
Meanwhile, desperate scenes grow at Kabul international airport. People prepared to leave everything and risk their lives to escape life under the militant group’s rule.
Biden has now created the largest hostage situation in modern history. Once the deadline passes, the Taliban can create a very real, live hostage situation. Reports reveal that the Taliban are now seizing passports from Americans. No doubt this will delay evacuation – one can only consider this was a deliberate move to ensure we cannot pull Americans out by the deadline because identifying people will take much more time.
This would be a smart move on the part of the Taliban. By creating a live hostage situation they are in a position to make demands. Because, you know, getting our complete withdrawal and billions in our weaponry just isn’t enough. Why not completely obliterate any vestige of respect the U.S. has around the world while building Taliban prestige at the same time? Plus any other perks you can grab along the way.
Joe Biden is truly in the process of tearing this country down to the ground. That surely makes his China handlers very happy.
