The last thing you would want in any survival situation is to have the inability to replicate man’s first significant achievement: FIRE….and just because you got your matches got wet!
Take a look at this method of waterproofing your matches, just in case you fine yourself in a predicament…or you plan to spend your time in the water. Here’s a bit more security….

Great advice. How many people don’t even keep matches, thinking they will never need them. Girl Scout Kisses would be good things to have. Remember how to make them? Just cut a used candle in 1/2 to 1 inch pieces, wrap each piece in wax paper and twist both ends tightly. You still have to have the matches, but the wax/wax paper is a great fuel to get the fire going.
Girl Scouts taught me fingernail polish protects and waterproofs them until u need them!
in boy scouts we used matches wax and a string to make a fire starter. hey sounds odd but it worked
Got my flint and steel in my tackle boxes .
just dip the match tip in wax ………………………………
you can also use the wax from used candles that are done, I save all my remnants of used candles to make more candles now I even have another use ! thank you for sharing.
