Ever had to deal with a power blackout during the hot summer months? Then you know just how important keeping cool can be.
Over on The Good Survivalist we found a great tip to save you money and keep you cool:
Seems every year people die due to heat. Keeping your home cool in the summer can be very expensive if you use your air conditioner. This air conditioner is very simple to make, and can be made in a few minutes if you are handy.Even if you are not handy you’ll be able to make one of these DIY air conditioners. One of the nice things about this air conditioner is that it will give you up to 6 hours of coolness. This thing works so well you may need to put on a sweatshirt! To make one of these babies you need a few simple tools, a couple of 5 gallon buckets, along with a few other items. Everything is shown in the video.

Everybody asking about the blackouts this is being run off a dollar panel… at least the one in the video is. It would work better is he salted the ice block and put the holes lower in the bucket and angled the PVC out 45 degrees up this would push more air through the bucket before exiting the pipes the salted block actually is colder than plain ice…. will this replace a 400 dollar unit…. no but it is better than a box fan
A generation that can’t even cook food without a microwave, how many people are actually going to attempt this. Come on
I tried it. Didn’t work too well.
It doesn’t work.
Redneck air conditioner
Seems to me, when tshf, there is going to be a lot of those people who always say something is “redneck” wishing they knew how to put some of those redneck things together. What a jerk.
seems to me… the shear cost of ice… whether purchased or produced by a home ice/maker… would make this cost prohibitive in the long term…
REFREEZE A GALLON JUG OF WATER WOULD SAVE SOME MONEY!!!
why not try a battery operated fan put a bow of ice in front of fan it will blow very cold air, did this after a hurricane to sleep at night only.
