Ever had to deal with a power blackout during the hot summer months? Then you know just how important keeping cool can be.
Over on The Good Survivalist we found a great tip to save you money and keep you cool:
Seems every year people die due to heat. Keeping your home cool in the summer can be very expensive if you use your air conditioner. This air conditioner is very simple to make, and can be made in a few minutes if you are handy.Even if you are not handy you’ll be able to make one of these DIY air conditioners. One of the nice things about this air conditioner is that it will give you up to 6 hours of coolness. This thing works so well you may need to put on a sweatshirt! To make one of these babies you need a few simple tools, a couple of 5 gallon buckets, along with a few other items. Everything is shown in the video.
Yes, if the power goes out, pull all the ice out of your freezer so your food goes bad. But hey, if you sit right next to this thing you can be cool and humid for a few hours. Why not just chew on an ice cube? This is so pointless…
your comment is pointless. you’re one of those people that need every little detail pointed out to you so you can go “ohhhhh i get it now, that IS a good idea.” moron, go chew on an ice cube.

Dry ice is the key, and it doesn’t melt or dissipate in just a few min it takes almost 8 hrs to have 5 lbs of it disappear even on a really hot day and it gives you a really more chilly breeze than regular ice
If you are outside, Dry Ice gives off toxic fumes as it evaporates.
Dry ice is compressed carbon dioxide, the same stuff that we breathe in and out every day. It is not toxic but in high enough concentrations there is the potential of suffocation.
While we’re at it, it doesn’t evaporate (liquid -> gas) it sublimates (solid -> gas)
