Ever had to deal with a power blackout during the hot summer months? Then you know just how important keeping cool can be.
Over on The Good Survivalist we found a great tip to save you money and keep you cool:
Seems every year people die due to heat. Keeping your home cool in the summer can be very expensive if you use your air conditioner. This air conditioner is very simple to make, and can be made in a few minutes if you are handy.Even if you are not handy you’ll be able to make one of these DIY air conditioners. One of the nice things about this air conditioner is that it will give you up to 6 hours of coolness. This thing works so well you may need to put on a sweatshirt! To make one of these babies you need a few simple tools, a couple of 5 gallon buckets, along with a few other items. Everything is shown in the video.

Haha nice
Yea, that looks like it
does a superb job of removing moisture from the air, just like the 454 dollar AC unit does.
Just buy a cheap $80 window unit, run it off a generator or power inverter (less than $100 @ Harbor Freight)… You won’t have to worry about; running out of ice, looking like a hill-Jack, spending $80 on materials to build something that pumps out half the cool air as a small $80 window unit.
This makes about as much sense as spending $35,000 on a hybrid car that will save you $400/yr in gas, when you can buy a $20,000 economy (gas) car, spend that extra $400/yr max in gas and still come out on top (with the average ownership of a vehicle being just 5 years – do the math).
Too funny!
Don’t waste your time. Just go buy a fan it does the same and is more practical. I built this and it is garbage

It works a tiny bit. We made a bunch when out office lost the a/c. Stupid electricians replaced the transformer for our building with a 3 phase unit, it reversed the polarity on everything, making all the fans run backwards. Retards.
