Ever had to deal with a power blackout during the hot summer months? Then you know just how important keeping cool can be.
Over on The Good Survivalist we found a great tip to save you money and keep you cool:
Seems every year people die due to heat. Keeping your home cool in the summer can be very expensive if you use your air conditioner. This air conditioner is very simple to make, and can be made in a few minutes if you are handy.Even if you are not handy you’ll be able to make one of these DIY air conditioners. One of the nice things about this air conditioner is that it will give you up to 6 hours of coolness. This thing works so well you may need to put on a sweatshirt! To make one of these babies you need a few simple tools, a couple of 5 gallon buckets, along with a few other items. Everything is shown in the video.
……………… If the power is out it won’t work stupid”.
Stupid it says on the video solar panel…
My friend used a thrift store cooler which keeps the ice around a lot longer, …
YES IT WILL POE MAN, ITS RAN BY A SOLAR,,,,,, DU,,,,, WATCH THE VIDEO
We made one… Filled 9oz water bottles and froze them solid for the ice… They lasted a lot longer…
Wooo! This is really cool. Literally .. Air condition company ‘s are not going to like this…
If there is a power outage, where did he get the ice?
Ever heard of bags of ice from a 7-11 or corner grocery ? Wala there is your ice !
There is a power blackout. Remember that part, Duh! If the 7-11 has a generator then yes you have ice. I have my own generator.
i thought this was super cool. last summer i made one. in order for you to get any air flow at all ..your fan must have more blowing power than this little fan has got. super idea, but i think this year i will use a 55 gallon plastic drum and get a super duper powerful fan. . and with room for much more ice and super duper air flow power, it just mioght be worth it,.
I used ice packs and a fan to cool my guest cabin last summer, and it worked, just put the icepacks (those blue things for medical treatments) in front of a fan.
