Ever had to deal with a power blackout during the hot summer months? Then you know just how important keeping cool can be.
Over on The Good Survivalist we found a great tip to save you money and keep you cool:
Seems every year people die due to heat. Keeping your home cool in the summer can be very expensive if you use your air conditioner. This air conditioner is very simple to make, and can be made in a few minutes if you are handy.Even if you are not handy you’ll be able to make one of these DIY air conditioners. One of the nice things about this air conditioner is that it will give you up to 6 hours of coolness. This thing works so well you may need to put on a sweatshirt! To make one of these babies you need a few simple tools, a couple of 5 gallon buckets, along with a few other items. Everything is shown in the video.
Ummm fan…. No worky with no electricity…. That is all
Ummmmm… solar panel, as explained in the video.
It doesn’t work because there is not enough cooling capacity in ice. It takes 800 pounds a day to equal a 5,000 BTU/hr air conditioner. And how much does 80 ten-pound bags of ice cost?
DON”T BOTHER IT DOESN”T WORK!!!! I TRIED IT IT DOES”T WORK AT ALL. I used block Ice I used battery powedred fans then I took apart a bigger fan with a little more power the air was only 2 to 3 degrees cooler than the outside air. I even tried restricting the air flow and by putting in baffles to make the air swirl in the bucket longer before exiting and it still didn;t work. I even switched out the styrofoam insert and used a thinner foil lined bubble wrap insulation and it went up by 1 degree. I didn;t spend any money because I had everything here. but don;t spend your money on this waste of time!!!
Will not, cannot work… Not my call, just plain physics and thermodynamics… Enough stated…
I can’t see video…
if there was a power outage its not going to work without power

How do you get ice if there is no power? If there is natural ice im sure you wont be worried about staying cool!
