Summer weather is heating up, so you know just how important keeping cool can be.
We found this great money-saving tip to keep you cool: Not only comfort is a factor, in fact every year people die due to heat. Keeping even a small area of your home cool in toasty summer weather can be very expensive if you use your air conditioner. Instead, this simple air conditioner, an easy DIY project cools down a small area, and can be made in just a few minutes out of simple parts.
This is a great way to re-purpose a few parts that you probably already have laying around. Check out the full video & how-to after the jump:

I’ve done this
made one 4 a 2nd floor HOT hallway, works awesome !!!!
To those saying that it will increase humidity…If you use frozen bottles instead of ice it actually de-humidifies. The hot air carrying in humidity hits the frozen ice jugs and the humidity turns to condensation which collects in the cooler. Try it…..just like a cup full of ice water “sweating” on a hot day. The cup isnt sweating….it’s the humidity in the air turning to condensation when it comes into contact with the colder cup. Now…will this cool off an entire room? No….but will it make you a lot cooler in one small place(say a tent, or work space)? Yes. Is it a fun project for less than the cost of a round of golf, taking the kids to movies, or even a long drive with todays gas prices? Absolutely! Let the kids help design it. Let them really think about max airflow, baffles like one poster mentioned above, hole placement, etc. Let the kids help drilling and cutting the holes, collecting bottles to freeze, decide on where to try it, and measure the air temp coming out of it. Let them use critical thinking on how to tweak the design for better efficiency on future builds. It’s not going to shutdown the HVAC industry….but ITS FUN DAMNIT!
I’m gonns try this!

This does not work at all. It slightly did but you might as well just put your head on ice. It barely blows air

I did this. Only works for small room like a bathroom.
