It was a truly monumental moment for Chris Filardi, director of Pacific Programs at the American Museum of Natural History in New York. He was finally holding the elusive Guadalcanal moustached kingfisher! He said it was like finding a unicorn.
Image, he had been searching for the rare and mysterious orange, white, and brilliant-blue bird for more than 20 years. Then, on a field study in the high forests of Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands, he finally heard the “ko-ko-ko-ko-kiew” sound of what he described as the unmistakable call of a large kingfisher. Find out what he did next with this amazing natural world discovery on the next page:

Hahhahaha in the name of “science” hahahaha
Please go to the American Museum of Natural History’s FB page and let them know how you feel about their practice of “taking” wild animals from habitats throughout the world.

If it was the only male left then the female can’t breed , so the bird is gone forever.Science will never bring it back.
Absolutely horrifying and disgusting. What kind of person does such a thing. It seems this man has lost all sense of humanity. So much for science. He ought to be charged with crimes against nature. This poor bird managed to survive this long, and then (in the name of science) is killed to be disected? Sounds like Planned Parenthood for birds!!!
Waiting for people to tell them that should be angry
