Needville High School in Texas suspended Mason Michelac after his refused to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance as a protest against big government.
“I’m really tired of our government taking advantage of us,” said Michalec in a statement to KHOU. “I don’t agree with the NSA spying on us. And I don’t agree with any of those Internet laws.”
In protesting against our authoritarian government he runs into an authority trying to limit his first amendment rights.
This is why our country is like it is. I served so this smartass kid can mouth off like this.
get the ACLJ involved to represent you and sue the district!!
The Pledge is to its NATION AND PEOPLE !!! That young man need to do his homework.
Since he’s so against the government why would he want to attend a government run school???? Let him be permanently suspended and find a non government school to attend….maybe home schooling where he won’t have to do anything he doesn’t want to!
i like it means not all younger people are out of focus of what is going on in goverment today
dont stop speaking out, they wont the people submisive!!!!!
America is about freedom of choice. I support his right to not say the pledge if he chooses not to. I may not agree with it but I have no right to impose my values on anyone and neither does anyone else
just because you don’t agree with your government doesn’t mean you should be an ass hole. In any other country he could have been thrown in jail. this is not the way to protest. I don’t always agree with what goes on in this country, but I will always get up — salute the flag, say my pledge — then go to the protest — because I CAN in this country. I get to the point that I want to say to these cry babies — “leave. go see if another country will be better for you. I won’t miss you. Otherwise, respect – yet disagree — with the US — get a life you little cray baby.” (I am not in a good mood today for this kind of $#%&!@*) Mike Galemore (hope you get to see my response because your response is nice — perhaps too nice.
Brave kid , for standing tall. Sorry, Young Man!
Why don’t we suspend our **&^&%$##@ president for doing the same!
