A Los Angeles School District has agreed to give up three grenade launchers acquired through the Pentagon’s Surplus program along with mine-resistant vehicles and other military hardware. The district will keep the set of 60 M16 assault rifles though.
Americans concerned about the militarization of our regular city police departments may find the spread of the trend to school district police forces even more ominous.
Check out Tami Abdolla’s article in the San Jose Mercury News at the link:
I’m sick & tired of guys like little Johnny not getting their homework in on time. I think this is just what the district needs!
Bid deal! This story doesn’t say HOW many grenade launchers there R, just that they will give up 3!
This is all about conditioning the young to accept militarized police forces, which is explicitly forbidden by the posse comitatus act. Now, I realize that one might argue that the local police are not federal military units, and that posse comitatus does not apply here. I would then have to argue that all local police forces are trained by the military, have been for some time now, and follow an overall agenda (including procedures) that is dictated at the federal level. Therefore, our local police are very much an extension of that very force, so it does apply. This all leads to increased violence in the streets and thus creates the need for ever more hardware. A very vicious cycle and one that deploying this kind of hardware causes to escalate.
you are correct sir, my hat is off to you, this kind of action is also a sign of just how “Dumbed down” americans have already become. i pray for us all brother in jesus name amen
I think they got the idea from Sister Christine, circa 1958.
Here is one for you. Kids learn. Kids want improvement. Why not put something we need improvement on before them. Help take away the fear of a bomb. As well as come up with new ideas to what to equip on them. Mmmm.
We do it with cops and firefighters. Nothing wrong with a hunk of metal.
Better question, what services were not provided to students as a result of buying this piece if equipment.
That APC is big enough for the copper to stand on and rescue cats from trees, saving the public purse from calling out the fire brigade. Honest, that’s what it said on the requisition document anyway……
Student gangs or gangs of students, there is MUCH to fear in L.A.
Damn they have some real bad kids in that school
