Liberals subscribe to magical thinking, believing that free college tuition and free health care to illegals will somehow end up a net win for the public. But reality often intrudes on this magical thinking like a big pimple on the end of your nose, and it is painful and unsightly. In this case, the laws of economics are intruding into the magical thinking of liberal politicians in San Francisco (as if there were any other kind there), and it is a growing problem.
San Francisco has declared that the minimum wage in the city, now being replicated in several other fact-challenged cities, will rise to $15 by 2018, and polls there predict happy, better-paid workers who will finally have a “living wage.” They have also insisted that this will not increase inflation and that it will be a boon to the minimum wage worker. That is a lie. And the impact is just now showing up as the first mandated rise from $10.74 to $12.25 is being implemented by certain retailers.
See who is raising prices in San Francisco, page 2:
memo to the educated idiots: pricing yourself out of the labor market is the same as pricing yourself out of the market for your food. Hope you all enjoy your free lunch while standing in the unemployment line.
Actually, you should raise the price to 45-50% to maintain proper margins and costs.
In a city so known for it’s restaurants anyone who would go there to eat at a Chipotle deserves what they get.
Pass all the minimum wage hike cost to the consumer through their purchases so they can get a taste of reality created by electing the representatives that created this moment. It’s only fair.
Peter Nygren the “get real” part of this is no one understands the thought that your pay is directly proportional to the value you add. Get real
Charlie Oliver haven’t got a clue do you?
Unfortunately these uneducated you speak of all have worthless degrees and huge student loans.
What you didn’t say is that while he increased pay he lowered costs by increasing productivity as well as increasing demand. He was brilliant with his timing with the automotive industry. His brilliance will do nothing for burgers or tacos. What’s the matter? You have huge student loans for a worthless education or are you a tenured professor feeding on innocent minds to line your own pockets.
Charlie Oliver workers become slaves when they do not work to improve their own standing. The largest steel maker in America today is non union and their workers make much more than their union counterparts and that company hasn’t had a layoff in 40 years. Unions enslave people. My opinion
Cory Hayes his move created demand for more cars. It was brilliant and his generosity was extended to minorities long before unions.
