Salvadoran Paper Tells Illegals Which 18 States to Avoid

Last week, La Prensa warned its would-be illegal immigrant readers which states and localities to avoid in order to circumvent ICE enforcement actions.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement has expanded the use of the 287(g) program under President Trump. The 60 agencies in 18 states that participate in the program assist in the arrest and removal of illegal immigrants.”

The 287(g) program authorizes the Director of ICE to enter into agreements with state and local law enforcement agencies to permit designated officers to perform immigration law enforcement functions. That authority depends upon local law enforcement officers receiving appropriate training and function under the supervision of ICE officers.

The article reveals that 60 law enforcement agencies inn 18 states have participated under 287(g). More than 1,800 state and local law enforcement officers have received ICE training. The program is being expanded by the Trump administration.

La Prensa’s article read, “If you’re in the U.S. or know someone who is living in these conditions, this information will interest you.”

The states where the designated agencies are functioning include: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.

La Prensa provided a list of the specific agencies involved. That information is readily available on the ICE website.

Interestingly enough, word of the more aggressive enforcement actions by the Border Patrol under the Trump administration has led to a sharp drop in the number of southern border crossings.

It also has sparked a number of illegal emigrants leaving the United States and heading into Canada, which is creating a headache for the government of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
