The third claim is the MOST cited and defended, that a Republican was the first one to have begun this Dossier business. “So, if we’re going to talk about the Dossier, then we should be blaming the person who initially paid for this!”
Here’s one interesting note about that Republican. Not a single Democrat who talks about this Republican has once called for an investigation into finding out who it was. Doesn’t that seem a big strange? No Democrats who have been complaining that it wasn’t Hillary have stated that the Republican should be outed. To me, that spanks of a 100% dishonest reply. If the Democrats really thought there was a Republican responsible for all of this and that the evidence was mounting against Hillary, there would be a call to the highest authority to “find out who this lousy Republican was and find out why he paid for this Dossier!”
Yet, there’s nothing but silence about this Republican. Let’s take a look at the facts.
The high-ranking Republican who paid for this Dossier to be produced did so by engaging Fusion GPS early on in the Republican primaries. There are a few reasons for this. Trump was beginning to show resilience in the primaries. He wasn’t being adversely affected by the fracas that was taking place in the debates. His base supporters were not abandoning him even after an unprecedented assault by the Republican Establishmentariat, the full weight of the Democratic Party, the Fake News Industrial Complex and the FBI leaks. Nothing was hurting him.
So, who would have felt it necessary to fund a “dig-up-the-dirt-on-Trump” Dossier (or as the Democrats like to call it, “opposition research”)? Who would have benefitted most from this type of research? Let’s see who was running at the time during the primaries.
Jeb Bush: The anointed candidate by the RNC, to be sure. This was the Establishment pick, without a doubt. He was the one to beat, according to the press and, of course, one of the only candidates who had a prayer to beat the shoe-in, Hillary Clinton.
Ted Cruz: Would not have funded this crap.
Chris Christie: A long-time friend of Donald Trump.
Marco Rubio: Too nice.
Ben Carson: Ditto.
Rick Santorum: Ditto.
Carly Fiorina, Mike Huckabee, Bobby Jindal, Rand Paul, George Pataki, Rick Perry, and Scott Walker all would not have had that kind of funding available to them.
Lindsey Graham: Would have capitulated to the Jeb Bushers.
The high-ranking Republican tasked with putting forward the party line that Jeb Bush was the man of the hour was Reince Priebus. Yes, he met with Trump in New York City for the infamous “signing of the promise to accept the candidate who won” document and, yes, he was later chosen by Trump to be a big part of his staff. That does not change the fact that, at the time of the primaries, he was upsetting all of the plans by the RNC. Trump made it possible to allow Republican voters to feel confident enough to begin bad-mouthing the Establishment in a very public way.
So, was the high-ranking Republican who initially approached Fusion GPS to dig up the dirt on Trump, Jeb Bush? Not likely. It just doesn’t seem to be his style. Could it have been Priebus? That’s a possibility.
There is another person who could have been the financier of this Dossier as well. Before I reveal that person, let’s take a look at exactly what happened.
The Republican official pays Fusion GPS to begin this process of finding dirt on Trump. They initiate the investigation. Shortly afterward, the Republican suddenly drops Fusion GPS because they no longer see a viability of their winning the primary against Trump. What is the obvious thing to do if you can see that your side is not winning against Trump?
Exactly. You root for the likely opponent of Trump. Hillary Clinton.
This Republican then went to the DNC and the Clinton campaign and offered them what they had already found (which was likely virtually nothing) and that’s the moment when both of those entities began paying Fusion GPS for the continuation of this “opposition research.”
Knowing what we know about this Republican, we can see that he’s someone who hates Trump. We can see that this Republican is an Establishment guy (otherwise, why would they be okay with Hillary as president?) We can also see that this guy’s a quitter with an enormous ability to hold a grudge. What high-ranking Republican has lots of cash, is an Establishment hack, would be okay with Hillary as president, hates Trump, is a quitter and holds grudges for time immemorial?
Senator John McCain.
Is it possible that McCain was the high-ranking Republican who began paying for this garbage? In my eyes, he is eminently more likely than Jeb Bush or any of the other primary candidates, as well as Reince Priebus.
If the bank records for Fusion GPS are ever made public, or even if they are successfully viewed by the House Intelligence Committee and become public through Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA) methods, would anyone be surprised to see a link to John McCain’s campaign funds?
Turn to the final page for the video that goes into detail about how Hillary could face up to 13 separate charges in association with the Dossier and the Uranium One deal, as well as other related scandals!
You are forgetting that the oringal dossier was financed by Republicans. The Democrats just continued investigate it. And did pay .
