Rep. King Reveals Paul Ryan Not Supporting Border Wall

Appearing on Tucker Carlson’s show on Tuesday evening, conservative Iowa congressman Steve King made clear his thoughts on his fellow Republican.

King came on the show to discuss his initiative to use funds that previously went to Planned Parenthood to pay for construction of the border wall along the Mexican border.

Naturally, Carlson wanted to know where Speaker Ryan stood on funding the border wall. In the short-term budget agreement reached by Congress earlier this year, Ryan held funding out with the proviso it would be taken up as part of the 2018 budget process.

Here’s how the exchange went with Steve King:

Tucker Carlson: “Do you think the Speaker is for the wall?”

Rep. Steve King: “I don’t believe the Speaker is for the wall. He’s way short of the enthusiasm that I have for the wall. But he has said to me as recently as January that we need to give the president the resources he needs to secure the border.”

One thing that’s very clear is that Speaker Ryan is a big fan of walls, provided they are built around his house to keep unwanted visitors out. He doesn’t want to extend that privilege to the rest of us to keep illegal immigrants out of the United States.

As the presidential campaign came down the home stretch last October, Ryan made headlines by telling House members he wouldn’t defend party nominee Donald Trump nor campaign with him.

He couldn’t have been more emphatic, declaring “I’m not going to defend Donald Trump, not now, not in the future.”

If there’s one thing we know for sure about Donald Trump, he has an incredible memory and will no doubt never forget the arrogance Paul Ryan has shown him over the years.

As a canny businessman, Trump will work with Ryan when he finds him useful, but will certainly find ways to get even in the future. He’s not one to forgive and forget.

On the other hand, leaders like Steve King won’t be forgotten either.
