The 2005 Real ID Act is finally going to be implemented, it seems. The Act requires everyone to obtain a passport to travel between states-so on domestic flights and traveling at state check points, one will have to produce this ID-no longer will your drivers license suffice. The Real ID Act, which taken 10 years to enact, is mostly opposed from those who believe it will violate their privacy. However, only a few states are being singled out for enforcement in the beginning of implementation.

REAL ID was passed in 2005 and was sponsored by a Republican and signed into law by President Bush. Since then, two pieces of legislation have been introduced to change it and stop this particular problem from coming up. One piece was bipartisan and the other was entirely sponsored by Democrats.
You let me worry about my security. Freedom is more important
2005 President Bush signed this act.
passports are very expensive and contain too much info which makes identity theft easier.
Very intelligent. In 2005 President Bush sined this into law but you knew that because you are smart.
Real ID Act of 2005…… Bill sponsored by Republicans, signed into Law by Bush….. Democrats have tried to reverse it. Research before spewing ignorance, please. Point blame where it belongs
Oh quit using click bait titles. It’s only four states that haven’t complied with the federal guidelines for one reason or another. It’s not like every last citizen will need to do this. So really it’s only a small percentage of travelers on a daily basis. It’s not like we’re becoming the Soviet Union where domestic travel papers were needed and they were stamped just like a regular passport for international travel. In seventeen days the last part of Phase Three of the act goes into effect and by next year the law will finally be put to use. They’ve had ten years to implement the new enhanced IDs and they put it off for as long as possible by getting insane amounts of extensions. These IDs are for more than just getting on flights they’re also for entering certain government associated facilities like Fermi Lab and Argone National Laboratory to name a couple of examples. They don’t want people with falsified documents gaining entry into federally run facilities and domestic flights. Remember you have good old George W to thank for signing this into law back in 2005. The current administration and change over in head of Homeland Security kept issuing the extensions. Facts not scare tactic click bait next time.
If Americans want to make sure there are no terrorists or illegal aliens then they will have to deal with having to provide ID for everything. Things have to start somewhere and the easiest place to start is requiring Americans to have a standard type of ID before they can get a job, travel, open bank accounts, get welfare, when stopped by police, etc.
WOW! theyre letting in 85,000 muslims to u.s. this year, but americans are strip searched and degraded!!!!!???? united states is OVER! welcome the new world order! s is hitting the fan
Kyle Altamirano refugee status is a whole different ball of wax than coming in without going through the proper channels or letting a student or work visa expire and living under the radar. Remember not every undocumented immigrant is from Mexico. There are people from Europe and Asia who come here for student purposes (just like we send our college students to study over there) that let the visa expire and ignore the courts to come before an immigration judge and live under the radar as to not get caught. Refugees are properly vetted and found suitable places to live. My city took in refugees from Kosovo back in the 90s and my former neighbor who used to be a school teacher would work with the kids getting them acclimated to the American school system. This would be no different.
