Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel announced on their cities’ website that 23,000 city jobs, volunteer positions and internships were now open to the DREAMers, the children of immigrants illegally here in the US.
DREAMers is an acronym for the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act.
Law? What law? The Democrats need voters and people who will join Obama’s civilian military.
Chicago’s mayor wants his city to become the epicenter for talented but illegal immigrants in the United States.
In a posting on the city’s website, Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced that the Windy City’s 23,000 jobs, volunteer positions and internships were now open to the DREAMers, the children of immigrants illegally in the country, Breitbart reported. DREAMers refers to the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act, which currently is in limbo in Washington.
Pro-amnesty Congressman Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill., no stranger to controversy, said in the announcement that these students “are an integral part of Chicago’s workforce of tomorrow. Once again, the City of Chicago and Mayor Rahm Emanuel are leading the way on the inclusion of our immigrant communities.”
In “justifying’ his preference for young people here illegally over citizen-students who would vie for the opportunities, Emanuel wrote, “Chicago is a city that was built by immigrants and I am committed to ensuring that DREAMers have the same opportunities offered by the City to all of Chicago’s youth.” His posting laments the barriers that young people here illegally face in landing jobs.
To alleviate these obstacles, the former Obama chief-of-staff allotted extra funds and harnessed the city’s considerable resources – the Office of New Americans, the Department of Family and Support Services, and the Department of Human Resources – to coordinate outreach activities and information campaigns, Breitbart reported.
Of course, the fact that these youngsters are not citizens and not legally eligible for these fellowships, internships, volunteer positions and jobs counts for naught, when circumventing the law has been made kosher by the President of the United States himself.
Emanuel’s pandering to illegals confirms the long-range Democratic plan, to ingrain a widespread general amnesty into the land, and insure an ever-growing Democratic voting base for the future.
So if your not here illegally,you cannot get one of these jobs ? Are you kidding me. The first AMERICAN CITIZEN that applies for one of the jobs should sue these enabliers starting with Rahm Emanuel !
We can probably all agree that our immigration system needs some modifications, but it’s NOT “broken”. We can agree that ENDING illegal immigration strengthens our national security and having a legal workforce is vital to the growth of our economy. We also can agree having a legal workforce and movement of goods across our borders is vital for commerce and our economic development. Success can be defined by developing reform that decreases illegal immigration and protects LEGAL immigration.
We can accomplish this if we:
1. Secure our borders;
2. Enforce existing laws;
3. Document all immigrants;
4. Mandate and Maintain country of origin application for United States citizenship;
5. Reform failed visa system for guest workers and international day laborers;
6. Modernized our ports for the efficient flow of legitimate goods and services.
Actions Needed
SECURE Our Borders
A secure border is critical for defending our nation against terrorism and transnational criminal organizations (TCO’s) that traffic illegal drugs, weapons and people. The federal government has failed to meet the growing threats posed by TCO’s. No border can be secured without a functioning legal immigration system.
Action: Categorize cartel violence as a global terroristic threat that threatens our allies and citizens.
Commit more resources to confront TCO’s.
Allow forceful engagement and effective, cross-border enforcement.
Equip landowners with tools to secure their property, including security cameras, brush eradication programs and reporting hotlines.
Reinforce local law enforcement efforts with staff and overtime.
ENFORCE Existing Laws
The laws of our nation must be enforced. Both employers and employees who knowingly violate labor laws and requirements must be held accountable.
Businesses must be accountable for illegally hiring and employing undocumented workers.
Immigrants and guest workers must be held responsible for entering the United States illegally; they must enter legally and uphold the laws of our nation through their stay.
Government must uphold its responsibility to prosecute those who violate our laws.
DOCUMENT All Immigrants
Our nation of laws cannot function with millions of people living in the shadows. Those living in the United States illegally must resolve their status within a well-defined time frame:
Implement a Penalty-Not-Pardon policy – amnesty is not an option.
The undocumented population must undergo deportation or pursue a temporary, six-month, conditional status with the following strict requirements:
– Come forward, fully report and pay a considerable and just fine;
– Be listed on a registry of individuals ineligible for future United States citizenship unless application is made from the country of origin;
– Submit to a criminal background check;
– During the six months, secure verifiable employment to gain legal resident status.
– Failure to adhere to these requirements and become fully documented will result in immediate deportation.
Children cannot inherit the guilt of their parents’ actions, and our immigration system can provide them the ability to become contributing and documented adults. Individuals who were brought to the United States by their parents as minors must submit to the same procedure within one year of enactment of this reform or upon turning 18 years of age. Failure to do so forfeits the opportunity for permanent residency and citizenship.
Immigrants who honorably serve in our military, in recognition of their contributions and sacrifice, should be eligible for citizenship.
Employers and businesses will verify their employees have the required documentation through an improved E-Verify, or comparable identification system. This system must be reliable and reduce employers’ burden and role in enforcing our immigration laws.
MANDATE and MAINTAIN Country of Origin Application for US Citizenship
Citizenship should not be a consolation prize for being in the U.S. unlawfully, and it doesn’t have to be the means for creating a permanent legal status. When considering the granting or conferring of citizenship for those who entered our nation unlawfully, the policy of the United States should avoid undermining immigrants who seek citizenship through the existing immigration and naturalization process; avoid alternative or special pathways that would perpetuate unlawful entry; and provide a strong naturalization process that promotes the values of our nation for those seeking citizenship in the coming years.
REFORM Failed Visa System for Guest Workers and International Day Laborers
The visa system must be streamlined, and visa provisions must be strictly enforced. Policies also must recognize that industries needing workers on an annual basis will require a longer-term solution. An annual emergency worker program is just a tax on businesses that can’t find a workforce.
Artificial quotas have failed American workers by creating a shadow economy. Visa issuance must be market-based.
Existing guest worker allotments using documented foreign workers should be increased based on workforce demands.
Reforming our guest worker programs is critical and can begin by simplifying and bringing together all programs into one, and recognizing the needs of the agriculture, service and construction industries to provide a legal, documented workforce.
PORTS must be modernized for the efficient flow of legitimate goods and services.
United States exports of agricultural products to Mexico totaled $18.3 billion in 2011; Mexico is the third largest United States agricultural export market.
Nearly 50,000 small and medium-size United States businesses export to Mexico. Trade between the United States and Mexico totaled $500 billion in 2011, with exports totaling $224 billion and imports totaling $277 billion.
Trade is vital to the economies of Texas, Mexico, Canada and the United States; it must be protected and promoted.
