Putin used the occasion to mock the American media’s effort to create a controversy where none really exists. He joked that Lavrov would be blamed for not passing on the secrets learned in the Trump meeting.
I spoke to him (Lavrov) today,” said Putin with a smile. “I’ll be forced to issue him with a reprimand because he did not share these secrets with us. Not with me, nor with representatives of Russia’s intelligence services. It was very bad of him.”
Putin said the reports that President Trump revealed classified intelligence secrets to the Russians have become “political schizophrenia” and that Russia is willing to help resolve the issue.
There is no other way I can explain the accusations against the acting US president that he gave away some secrets to Lavrov. It’s hard to imagine what else these people who generate such nonsense and rubbish can dream up next.”
The Putin offer to provide the transcript of the Trump-Lavrov discussion to Congress rests on the condition the White House would request such an action.
The Russian president also made pointed comments on the current state of politics in the United States and expressed his displeasure at the anti-Russian rhetoric offered by politicians on both sides of the aisle as well as in the news media.
What surprises me is that they are shaking up the domestic political situation using anti-Russian slogans. Either they don’t understand the damage they’re doing to their own country, in which case they are simply stupid, or they understand everything, in which case they are dangerous and corrupt.”
Putin made it clear he understands this is an internal U.S. matter and that he doesn’t want or plan to interfere.
In recent tweets, President Trump has acknowledged that the information provided in the meeting with Lavrov related to joint efforts to fight terrorism and enhance airline flight safety. He emphasized that as president, he has every right to disclose facts related to those vital issues.
Both Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster, who were in the Trump-Lavrov meeting, have defended the president and refuted any accusations that he divulged intelligence secrets.
Of course, the news reports are based on unnamed “officials” making the allegation of the intelligence disclosure. More fake news?

Tommy Funk I bet you chew tobacco and say things like “them thar rich people think they are better than me, but I voted for Trump and he loves the stupid little guy like me” you believe that because you are……stupid
Earl Freling Ummmm…….who was talking Obama? why do you idiots all keep bringing up Obama? he is gone!! and yes, i did not make any money during his 8 years; but now Trump is being an idiot and he is hurting the stock market i.e. our money you deplorables !
Tamara Gale I agree; but because he is not staying focus on his economic plan, and doing stupid things like caring about Hilary, and firing an FBI director (which the timing was scarily stupid), Tweeting threats to about said FBI director that he may have recorded him, and 10 other stupid Twitter based things; he is hurting the stock market i.e. OUR Money. I like most of his economic plans, which gave the market a feeling of happiness, which in turn made it go up; but the Trump of today is sliding backward because of his thin-skinned actions. So, to everyone again; just because you voted for him does not mean you have to LOVE everything about him! BTW people, watch CNBC; that way you know the reality. Money isn’t a Republican or a Democrat; but it knows stupidity.
Nicholas Correale Hahahhahhaaaaa …..a shovel mechanic called m an idiot!!! Hhahahaaaaaaaaa
Thank you Putin you got more since then our Congress.
Just wondering why we’d believe those transcripts weren’t doctored
Patricia Getz anytime you want to talk any level of business, and my intelligence on the subject; please do it here publicly so we can show who is 12. please proceed
Your using a f**e account. U can’t even put your actual face to the words you spout. Your f**e, just like the$#%&!@*your typing.
Try being “American”. I’m 100% American, I respect our Service Men and Women. I stand for the flag and love my country. But our government both parties are beyond corrupt. I voted for Trump because I see people running scared!!! I asked myself Why? There’s things our government doesn’t want to get out, and Trump is just the man to let it all out!!! Things are just getting started, I hope Trump has his own security because I wouldn’t trust anyone (FBI, Secret Service and anything (White House, Congress).
Shelby Lewis I agree, but anyone but Trump. I have never voted for a Democrat. But Trump is a crazy, immature, insecure, braggart, caricature of a normal human who become the president of the United States. I agree we needed some new blood, one with a good business background. But Trump is not the one to do it. Give me any other business person as a president; just not him. The reality is; if you were at a party with Trump, and he was not the public figure he is, just a “normal” person but the same personality; three trophy wives and all, you would say “what a pompous$#%&!@* behind his back. Arrogance is a good trait to a point, but not when it is based in insecurity. Trump has to tell anyone who will listen how great he is (we all know the type); and will attack anyone who makes a real criticism of him (see every Tweet he has written) and cannot ignore even the smallest of criticisms. Those are NOT Leader qualities. That said, he is president, and I like his economic ideas. But do I like him as a person; if i said yes I would be not like who i am as a person.
