Russian Plane Crash Caused by Islamic Terrorism

Western leaders such as Barack Obama often declare their intention to “punish the guilty”, but too often do not have the will to exact the appropriate payment. And certainly one wonders if Obama is even interested in pushing back against the onslaught of Islamic terrorism.

Thus far, he has mostly launched ineffective drone strikes which have considerable cost but accomplish little. However, in the case of the Russion airliner, President Vladimer Putin is the offended party, and the Russion strongman is unlikely to give ISIS a pass. In fact, he has just stepped up and over Obama as the major world leader who is actually willing and able to take on ISIS and beat them back without apology.

Speaking of the terrorists involved in the bombing, Putin said: “There’s no statute of limitations for this, we need to know all their names. We’re going to look for them everywhere wherever they are hiding. We will find them in any place on Earth and punish them.”

Putin also spoke about Russia’s air campaign in Syria on Tuesday, saying that it “should not only be continued but should be intensified so that the criminals realize that retribution is inevitable.”

He instructed the Defense Ministry and General Staff to present their suggestions on how Russia’s operation in Syria could be modified.

“In this work, including the search to find and punish the criminals, we are relying on all of our friends,” Putin said. “We will act in accordance with the U.N. Charter’s Article 51, which gives each country the right to self-defense. Everyone who tries to aid the criminals should understand that they will be responsible for giving them shelter.”

By thus stating Article 51, Putin put all countries, including Syria and Iran on notice that they may face the wrath of the Russian military should it be discovered that they are giving aid and comfort to ISIS. It is the kind of resolute and clear determination that we would wish from our impotent president, but have not gotten. It is why Putin and not Obama will be remembered for the leadership that finally tames the Islamic terrorists.
