On Saturday, June 3, progressives plan to stage a national “March for Truth” to demand an investigation into President Trump’s alleged dealings with Russia. This has been a demand from the left from the time during the campaign Mr. Trump indicated he would like to try getting along with Mr. Putin. That will teach a presidential candidate to never say anything nice about the wrong foreign leader.
On Saturday, over 135 cities will join a coalition of 17 “national progressive groups,” Democrat and progressive members of Congress, a Watergate prosecutor, writers, celebrities, musicians and activists in a series of national rallies known as the “March for Truth.”
The coordinated rallies are calling for an independent commission to investigate alleged collusion between the Trump administration and Russia, investigate whether Russia interfered with the 2016 elections, and call for President Trump to release his tax returns.
If they are so concerned about taxes, perhaps they should remind Al Sharpton to pay his.
The march organizers stated that they have several “simple” demands:
An independent commission must be established and Congressional investigations should be properly resourced and pursued free of partisan interests.
As much information should be made available to the public as possible.
Congress should require Donald Trump to release his tax returns to clarify his business interests and obligations to any foreign entity;
If crimes were committed or if collusion is discovered, it must be prosecuted.
There are all sorts of comments that could be made here, but we’ll restrain ourselves and comment on just a couple.
First off, the establishment of a commission “free of partisan interests” is laughable and impossible since this whole project is based on partisan interests.
The goal of making as much information available to the public as possible is meaningless since there is no way to determine if this would have be done.
Demanding that any crimes committed be prosecuted is a great idea, and we would suggest that these folks demonstrate their alleged bipartisanship by including Hillary Clinton in the investigation and as a subject for possible prosecution. After all, they claim the goal for this march is revealing the truth, right?
Marches are being hosted in over 130 cities.
But apparently not in Washington, D.C.
According to the Washington Post, there will be a rally but no actual march in Washington, D.C. However, organizers reportedly plan to take an aerial photograph of protesters on the Mall arranged in the form of the words “Investigate Trump.”
That will make a point.
In New York, the rally is slated to begin at 9 a.m. at Foley Square. Protesters will then march along Broadway. Actress Rosie O’Donnell and Rep. Nadler are expected to speak there. O’Donnell has been one of Trump’s most vocal opponents.
Rosie O’Donnell. Now there’s a real piece of work. The conscience of America, all in one large, loud-mouthed package. Seriously, this is the sort of person you don’t want on your side. She’s just that much of an embarrassment.
We are disappointed, however, that we do not see Nancy Pelosi or Maxine Waters listed as potential participants. How can you have a proper liberal event without those two great lights present? And we so wanted to listen to them speak.
Well, these progressives will have their meaningless demonstration in support of a non-issue as they continue to commiserate Hillary’s loss. By the way, if Hillary really did get shafted out of the presidency which was her birthright, why isn’t she out their shoulder-to-shoulder marching with her supporters?
