With all of the controversy that surrounds Pope Francis, there’s a growing weight in the minds of Christians and Catholics that he’s not the man many of them thought him to be.
And if the things he said before Congress today haven’t convinced you of this truth, his comments made during an interview with the founder of La Republica should be enough to sway your conscience. Apparently, non-believers will be forgiven by God if they follow their conscience.

SICK!!
is the pope even going nuts now i bet the liberals got to him
The pope is not Catholic ..
Wow !!!! Another idiot !!!!!!!
Kenneth Troy Mace ,yes we are all sinful, we are Saved not by our actions but by Christ’s. So, you cannot earn your way to heaven because what you do. However, knowing Jesus and then rejecting him (and the rest of the Trinity) will condemn you to hell. So one can choose hell rather than RECEIVING God’s saving Grace. That is different from not knowing Christ. I think that is the Popes point. However I’m not one to question your theology. Your interpretation is as good as any. In matters of faith we all have our unique relationship with The Lord .
Mark DaSilva all that is true. However, the gift is from God. It is yours to accept or reject. It is a fine point, but a valid one. I don’t think the Pope is explicitly rejecting your narrower interpretation, but is commenting on those who could not possibly know Christ, whether through geography, simple ignorance, incapacity(such as a young child). Certainly you do not condemn a Downs Baby to hell because of the child’s incapacity to accept Christ? Of course not! God isn’t that rigid in his judgement. Otherwise we all would deserve hell because of our sinfulness. It is an age old question really, can people like a child or someone who because of isolation be condemned to hell. One can’t reject a gift if the receiver is not aware of it. But if you are aware and reject the gift of salvation, then those folks are not worthy of Salvation because they actively reject it.
AGAIN: THIS IS FALSE—ACCORDING TO SNOPES!!! : ” Earlier comments notwithstanding, the quote appended to the image that circulated in December 2014 does not match any verifiable comments made by Pope Francis. Although Pope Francis did make statements in 2013 that were widely received as atypically inclusive of nonbelievers, they did not resemble the “not necessary to believe in God to be a good person” quote. It’s not clear where the quote originated, but there is no proof (nor is there precedent) for the claim Pope Francis voiced it.”
Marxist jerk
Boy are you wrong. Bible says all who believe in me shall enter through my gates into heaven. Get real pope
Daniel Jay other sheep. Gentiles, people not descended from Abraham and not part of Israel, who would be integrated into the one flock. “Other sheep he had by virtue of predestination, which are not of this fold and of this church according to present righteousness, which sheep of his Grace he brought to life.” He is talking about people not of Jewish descent. The gentiles, not the nonbelievers.
