14-year-old Jacob Herrera from Amarillo, TX attended a school football game last week and was asked by officer, Corporal Wilson, to remove the rosary he was wearing.
When Herrera refused the officer appeared to use excessive force, according to an eyewitness.
Cops ask people not wear a rosary as it could be gang related.

The government may make no law pertaining to freedom of religion. This young man’s rights were violated by the school and then by the officer. Their excuse that some gangs are wearing rosary beads as a sign of affiliation can be used to make nuns and priests remove their beads also. It is a stretch to say that this was a legal action. My first big question is where is the public outrage about this incident? Where are the national rights groups protesting the violation of this young man’s rights. Yes he is not an 18 year old, over 6 feet tall, over 200 pound thug who was shot while battering a police officer. He is just a puny 14 year old trying to support his friends at a school football game but doesn’t he deserve an outcry?
Come on people let us give him the same visceral response we give for hoodlums. Let us say that a quiet youth has the right to believe in God and show his support for the religious tenets that may be keeping him from gang life. Write a letter, share a post, start your own blog to kelp raise the cry for religious freedom before it is lost to us all.
My last question is this:
Would there have been an altercation if the student was wearing a “Star and Crescent” or the Arabic “Allah” instead of a rosary?

$#%&!@*ed up cop.
This is BS!!
The kid should have left. If the school has a dress code then that’s the way it is. The kid was given a choice and he chose to be obstinate. Resisting arrest and not complying with the orders of a sworn officer will get you in trouble every time. The cop didn’t beat the kid up, only restrained him. I think that the kid should learn a lesson from this. I also think that the school should be very specific on what is okay or not so there is no misunderstanding going forward from here. The kid’s behavior is what caused this. He complies, he has no problem. He didn’t comply and there was the problem. It’s not the cop’s rule. It is the school’s. The cop was only doing his job and I think that the cop really didn’t need some unruly kid to ruin his night.

fire the officer & investigate the police office & its department heads…this abuse of our basic right for Freedom of Religion must stop…the majority of this c**p is against Christianity while Islam is allowed to do as it pleases… that is not the America I want.
every time we get in trouble we call 9 1 1
I don’t dial the thug line
I don’t care what their excuses are..Freedom of religion cannot continue with these attitudes from schools and police.
