Pelosi: I Am a ‘Target’ Because I Am a ‘Master Legislator,’ ‘Politically Astute Leader’

Representative Nancy Pelosi drew the usual crowd at the Capitol as she made a quick little intro about the new voting rights bills that her and fellow Democrats were introducing to the House to reinstitute a 40-year-old law that had been struck down by the Supreme Court in 2013 due to it being viewed as useless in today’s society, based on the advancements in technology and accessibility of voters to their polling places.  As is usual for Democrats to do in very controversial acts of introducing racist legislation, Pelosi invoked the words of Dr. Martin Luther King.  It’s a tactic they’ve been using for a very long time in order to perpetuate the notion that King was somehow on the same platform as the Democrats of the 1960s (NOTE FOR MILLENNIALS:  He was not).

Pelosi then turns to a little bit of a mini-rant about the healthcare bill that opponents are dubbing Trumpcare.  She began by speaking about how the bill was “without a heart,” that it was a working draft that the Republicans had “worked so hard to hide,” but in the end had no choice but to reveal its evil secrets!

“So sad, Mr. President,” she suddenly said as her face turned to the camera.  “Heartless.  Mean!”

Trumpcare, she claimed, served to increase costs of services, undermined Medicare, that millions and millions and millions would lose their healthcare and, like Pontius Pilate, they would toss it back to the states where it would do serious harm to those states by “clobbering them with costs they couldn’t bear.”

There would be “great suffering to veterans, seniors, working families,” and oh, did I mention working families?  One point eight million jobs would be lost (that’s apparently a fact) and rural areas would suffer the most because hospitals are now going to be closed.  They would have to wait for the Congressional Budget Office to work out their assessment, but as far as Pelosi and the Democrats are concerned, this bill has had “terrible things put in” on purpose so that “later they can take them out and say, ‘See, it’s much better now!'”

The public, she continued, has been shut out of this debate (hey, just like Obamacare!  “We need to pass it so we can find out what’s in it!”)  This bill will serve as a job-killer because by closing hospitals and denying basic services, it will reduce the attraction of business to that area, because “who wants to have a business where there are no emergency rooms?”  It’s detrimental because there is no budget attached, but what they can figure out is that 1.4 million jobs will be lost.  Hold on, Madam Speaker, didn’t you say 1.8 million just a minute ago?

There was no infrastructure involved, no tax bill!  The Democrats, of course, want to REDUCE THE DEFICIT (yes, that’s so apparent over the last 8 years) and INCREASE GROWTH (again, so apparent) and INCREASE JOBS (like Obama did, right?).  They won’t stand for this trickle-down economics.  This working draft is just a tax bill disguised as a healthcare bill that they need passed so they can give their tax breaks to the high-end individuals.

So, to sum up, Trumpcare will kill jobs, kill millions of people because hospitals will be shut down and people will have no healthcare, costs will rise, Medicare will suffer, veterans will die, and it will have out-of-control costs that the CBO has not figured out yet.  Say!  That sounds JUST LIKE OBAMACARE, doesn’t it?  Could it be that we’re transferring a little guilt here, Nance?

The first question was asked of her about the results of the Georgia election where Handel (R) defeated Ossoff (D) a couple of days ago, in an area that the Libs spent big bucks in anticipation of a win.  Of course, Pelosi bristled at the suggestion that it was a loss.

“I am proud of our performance in Georgia.  It is good news for us!”  Yes, she actually said that.  She was proud of the loss and thought that it was a net positive.  Why?  Well, because in four different elections in Kansas, Montana, South Carolina, and Georgia, they had a gain of “71 points shaved off the majority,” giving them four, count ’em, four victories!

Pelosi said she had great pride in the candidates and that, even though they weren’t priorities (oh, of course, they weren’t) the races had been chosen specifically by the president to win because they thought they would be easy wins, but little did they know the serious damage they would do to their Party!  “There was single digit opportunities for us!  This opens the way for 80 seats to be in play” in the next election cycle.

“My leadership is in keeping everyone together in defeating the healthcare bill.  I’m proud of the unity we have to succeed enormously on this bill.  We are united about working families.”

When asked by someone in the audience about personal ambitions, she bristled once again (after all, the press is supposed to be a friendly audience to her).  The fact that I have “personal ambition is ridiculous…take your best shot!  Every attack provokes a massive reaction by our supporters.”

Another press member makes the mistake of asking her if she thinks it’s time to step aside and let someone else lead.  “The Democrats have lost 60 seats over 6 years.  Why should you keep your job?”  That was a bit too personal and her eyes and face twitched noticeably.  “We are paving the way for a young generation of leadership.  We lost 54 seats in the Clinton years.  Thanks for reminding me!  But we won 30 seats under Bush.  There’s a real opportunity here.  History’s on our side.  We have harmony, discipline and unity.  You want me to sing my praises?”

“I’m a master legislator!  I’m a strategic politically astute leader!  I’m recognized by my colleagues as an effective lawmaker!”

She touted the Democrats’ ability to manipulate social media to “change how we communicate to the Party.”

“In oh-five, we were told we didn’t have a chance.  Harry Reid and I said we don’t accept that, that there will a permanent majority and we proceeded to take the president [Bush] from 58 to 38 and we won the election!”

There was a moment of reflection where she was asked about being a target of the Republicans.

“Tom Daschle was a target, Tip O’Neill, Harry Reid, and myself…we were all targets because we’re the most effective leaders.”

Another question arose about how she felt that the President supported her as Minority Leader because her continued presence actually helped the Republicans.  That was another reason for her to bristle.  She sneered as she answered, “They have to target my district, the City of St. Francis, the Song of St. Francis is the anthem of our city…I am proud of my support for gay marriage and a woman’s choice, that’s what they play off of.”

Then she began with the slogans, so familiar to Republicans all these years as a way to build support for their party without actually showing any substance.  She smirked and said, “We don’t AGONIZE, we ORGANIZE!  The numbers are in our favor.”

Another question about a Trump tweet seemed to really agitate her.

“He didn’t write that.  The Republicans wrote it and they handed it to him.”

Pivoting once again in a very odd way, she said, “We will be redistricting, once we win, and we are working with President Obama, and the Governor’s Leadership Council with Terry McAuliffe, House Democrats, Senate, to end voter suppression, redistricting injustices, and the rest.”

Then she segued into some more slogans.

Mobilization, Message, Money, Messenger.  The four “M”s, I guess.  Her diatribe here was to distract away from the rather hostile questions she was receiving from the room.  “People see an urgency and self-recruitment follows.”

Another question by a woman seemed to irritate her as she bit her lip and looked distraught with a furrowed brow.

“Years ago, you said we need to be responsible stewards of God’s creation and that it dishonors God to pull out of the Paris Accord.  The Heartbeat Protection Act would prohibit aborting a baby with a heartbeat.  Does it dishonor God to abort a baby with a beating heart?”

This was not the type of audience she’s used to playing to and Pelosi was visibly angry at this question.

“I don’t want to – obviously you want to get into THAT discussion.  What I say is, I completely respect a woman’s right to choose.”  She then proceeded to start talking about her children and grandchildren to distract a little from the subject.  “Many of my friends and my family do not share my view.  But it is my view.  It is up to a woman to have the right to choose the size and timing of her family that God gives us a free will and holds us responsible and accountable for our actions.”  In other words, I’ve chosen to advocate the murder of human beings and I will burn in Hell and that’s my prerogative as a Democrat!  So, too bad, so sad!  Next question!

“Do you think former Attorney General Loretta Lynch should be subpoenaed to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee pursuant to Senator Feinstein’s comments last week that she wants to explore the matter further?”

At this question, Pelosi looks lost and somewhat confused (a total act, however).  She says that she doesn’t know much about that subject.  Then, amazingly, launches into this rant (on a subject she doesn’t know much about, mind you).

“I don’t think she should be subpoenaed on the strength of the President [Clinton] going by and saying ‘hello,’ which I think was a mistake, but nonetheless.  But here’s what I do think about that subject (of which I know little).  There’s a lot of meetings going on now to de-conflict (new Democrat buzzword that’s meant to distract your thoughts) in terms of, if the [stammering] whaddaya call them?  Special Counsel Mueller…is going to be doing his investigation at the same time the House and Senate Intelligence Committees should in a parallel timeframe do that, you know one doesn’t have to wait for the other, the same thing with the judiciary committee. But my comment to all of them, you gave me an opportunity to say it here, is that there may be information that the special counsel has that may not be incriminating from the standpoint of the law, but might be useful in terms of the investigation. What might be obstruction of justice? I don’t know. I need to get the facts. But abuse of power is different. So the information they may have should be made available to the investigative committees in the House and in the Senate Judiciary Intelligence. And it shouldn’t be a situation, well, we collected this information, so we’re not making available to you.

Wait, WHAT?  Perhaps it’s just me because I’m a High School graduate and never went to college, but WHAT?  Did any of that make any sense, in so far as we just heard this woman say a couple minutes earlier that she was “strategically politically astute?”  I guess if “strategically politically astute” means tipsy on the Congressional wine, maybe, but…YIKES!  This woman is paid over $200K a year and is 73 years old!  Hasn’t she tapped enough of the taxpayers’ wealth for far too long?

Pelosi then began a rant which I won’t go into much detail about because, quite frankly, I think this was supposed to be her nap time and her handlers forgot to give her “the nod.”  She began talking about Representative Scalise on a gurney and an ad that said Democrats were responsible, that it was beneath the dignity of the Republicans and that they went to a racist place with their depiction of Obama reading out of a book…bla, bla, bla…and something about Democrats having the power because of the strength of their economy, and look what they did to the candidates in Georgia, and 1 in 5 children lives in poverty and Republicans are “okay with that” and God’s creation, whether it’s our children, or clean air, the climate, Medicare as a guarantee for our seniors, job creation in the middle class, good paying jobs, reducing the cost of living, affordable healthcare, paid leave, child care…”there’s a difference between the two Parties.  That’s where we should take the debate.”

And just in case that wasn’t enough gibberish, she started in about New York and hipsters and Ossoff negative ads??

The last question was about Pelosi raising more money than anyone else in the House.  Why wouldn’t she share that with other members and spend it to further the message?  She hemmed and hawed on this question and ultimately fell on the answer that was basically, “I’ll spend my money…maybe…probably…well, maybe not, and you know, members can present themselves…they need to represent themselves.”

Her closing comments were just as obtuse and ridiculous, which goes a long way toward explaining why the press was so hostile toward this Democrat.

“Republicans are afraid of that contrast in the race. Because they’re gonna go there to be involved in trickle-down economics, shutting down hospitals, and the rest of it. So they don’t want them to see that contrast, so they focus on something else. And it’s a diversionary tactic. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy. You demonize and then you – we call it the wrap-up smear. You wanna talk politics? It’s called the wrap-up smear. You smear somebody, with falsehoods and all the rest, and then you merchandise it. And then you write it and you say, I see it’s reported in the press that this, this, this, and this, so they have that validation that the press reported the smear, and then it’s called the wrap-up smear. And now I’m gonna merchandise the press’ report on the smear that we made. And that, it’s a tactic. And it’s self-evident.”

“I respect even the negative views, as long as it’s constructive. But when it’s blatantly self-serving, and beyond the normal competition, that the press so enjoys focusing on, instead of, wouldn’t it be better if all the press were focusing on the Senate heartless, mean-spirited bill that hurts seniors and veterans, working families, and our country. Terrible damage to our children, so I hope that all the people concerned about our children, concerned about them, in terms of these healthcare bills.

Many times I have not really wanted to run again when they called upon me to do so. This time I did. The election of Donald Trump – this takes the knowledge and experience that I have, said she, immodestly, to make this fight, and to unify our members around the facts. Facts, the law.”

Time for the slogans.  Wait for it…

“Progress for the American people. Urgency. Responsibility. Opportunity. I love it!”

Um, Nancy, you forgot a couple…

“Resist…Peace…Resistance is Futile…Peace Out…Hashtag-Resist-Peace”

I get why all the press in the room was angry.  Here’s one of the three architects of the largest political disaster of modern times.  Pelosi, Reid and Obama merged their meager synapses for a combined total loss in eight years of more than 1,200 Democrat seats in the House, the Senate, the Governorships and the State Legislative and Assembly members.  This is, bar none, the absolute worst performance by any political team in the history of this country and the Leftist press are tired of carrying the water for these half-measures, make-excuses, blame-someone-else, under-prepared, and piss-poor Democratic leaders who just can’t seem to see the Republican forest for the White Middle Class working trees.

These reporters are champing at the bit for someone young, hip, angry, fired-up, motivated, and sick-and-tired of losing who will lead this tired, washed-up, old, bitter, way-past-hippie-chick-youthfulness Brill Cream set to care about the actual issues that matter.  If Hillary and Pelosi and Schumer and Sanders don’t put on their bifocals and peer at the rioting Millennials around them and contrast that with the fed-up REAL Americans who are struggling in both the inner cities and the suburbs, they will continue to lose in the arena of ideas and in the political battleground of the outsider voter.

There’s a new Sheriff in D.C.-Town.

And by all means, Nancy, please continue to hold these press briefings.
