The stand-off in Oregon between the Federal government and Ammon Bundy and his fellow ranchers does not seem to be winding down. Bundy and his loosely connected organization came to Burns, Oregon about two weeks ago in support of Steven and Dwight Hammond, local ranchers who were accused of arson some years ago. The charges were filed because the Hammonds cleared some of their ranch by burning the underbrush and overgrowth, but the fire spread to surrounding Federal land. The Hammonds were able to extinguish the blaze without help, and in fact, both the Hammonds ranch and the Federal land are said to be more productive and healthier from the clearing, but the government seems intent on making a show of who is in charge.
The charge of arson, which in and of itself seems like a huge miscarriage of justice, in that it carries a mandatory sentence of 5 years in prison. A judge who tried the case thought so too and said that it would be improper and unfair to send them to prison for 5 years each, so he sentenced the Hammonds to less than a year in jail, which they completed some time ago. However, a judge or government agency seeking to show ranchers everywhere just who is in charge has demanded that the Hammonds serve the full five years, and the father and son left for prison last week.
Ammon Bundy claims new documents expose government abuse, page 2:
Don’t forget the Enclave clause article 1, section 8, clause 17 which states that the federal government controls land allocated to it by the states as if it were its own and lands under its protection. At no point did the federal government force Oregon to surrender its land. Oregon and several other states have done this, allowing the federal government to steward the land as an enclave. This is why all military bases, national parks, national monuments and so on are all the responsibility of the Feds to maintain and control. I would like to see these “patriots” attempt to take over a military base, after all that’s federal land too and in almost every state.
The BLM is not in the UK either. I have no idea where people pull this$#%&!@*up either. Look at their offices all in DC none overseas. It is an office of the Department of the Interior, for crying out loud.
Lastly they are committing a crime. It is called sedition. It is no different then the Whiskey rebellion in 1791 where 500 armed men took over a tax collectors property . They were a bunch of farmers the didn’t want to pay tax on their distilleries. George Washington himself summonsed the real militia and put and end to that b******t himself. This is a joke, these men are not patriots, they are seditionists. As for their papers these guys have had access to a federal office I’m sure there is probably letterhead there, they could have printed up any bs they wanted to say.
Bundy and the Hammonds are in the right. They served their sentence how con the Feds insist they go back? that isn’t constitutional and the arson charge was B.S. in the first place. The jury that convicted them must have been made of of morons, if there was a jury.
Funny that is where alot of minerals, oil, gas, uranium etc are at. Sounds to me like the govt wants their hands in the pockets of landowners for more than the land or for “parks!”
oh i bet this is gonna be good 🙂 they have been so sneaky with the gov. using them for stealing property. they know the law, n thought they would get away with it, and did for some time.
Good, put it out immediately. They have ways of hiding things
what????
Yes! Linda Blair Anders
