People living next door to barking dogs face the challenge of trying to work with their neighbors to get the problem resolved in a fair manner.
Complicating the problem is the fact that dogs bark as a means of communication, as well as a way to ward off unwanted intruders to their property.
At the same time, pet owners have a responsibility to ensure their pets don’t become local nuisances or a threat to those who aren’t the owners.
A recent court decision in Oregon has confirmed an extreme solution to a long-standing dispute between neighbors over one couple’s dogs barking continuously.
In extreme cases, dog owners can face the prospect of having to have dogs undergo a surgical procedure to “debark” them to cut down on excessive noise. On the next page, learn how an Oregon court resolved such a dispute and the lingering ill will that continues to fester between the parties involved.
Dogs need to bark to warn of danger.
No reason to do this.
I would move
I definitely think this procedure is extremely awful and animal cruelty at its best. How would you like your vocal cords cut and you can’t talk anymore it’s the same thing. Nitwits!!!
What this is all about is thief’s won’t be scarred your dog will hear them now so don’t do this! Another protection being taken away STOP THIS NOW
This state is so full of dumb dumb ingrates.leave dogs alone NOW
Many a barking pooch has saved lives. That is a stupid idea from a stupid “unhuman.”
How about taking in your damned barking dog…they bark for many reasons…ignored, unloved, looking for friendship, hungry, cold, hot, or hurt. Neighbors in my sons HOA leave their Freakin dog out all day when they leave for work. Next, time to take house numbers and put in a complaint. Bark collars are really not working.
Liberal judges think they are God. They just don’t want to be bothered.
Hahahaha…so true!!!!
